Came across a picture...

Came across this picture that seems to be of a 2WD Express or Tradesman with the 7" Premium display. Was wondering how, since I didn't think you could get either of those trims with that cluster. Maybe the dealer put it in? Or can you special order it that way from the factory?

The site claimed the truck was a 2013. I don't know if that is accurate or not. Has to be an Express or Tradesman based on the fact that it has a column shifter, and the obvious lack of interior options. Or could it be an SLT?

i think he meant the display on the gauge cluster.... if he meant the radio display i have that same one in my 2015 RCSB express.

I have seen a dealer mix up pictures on their websites. Was looking at a blue truck and scrolled through interior pics and you could see the white door jam. Could just be an interior from another truck.

The 2013 Express models came with the premium gauge cluster when ordering the trailer brake controller. Ram however discontinued that option in 2014 models since the basic cluster now includes the information display screen.

I have seen many 13/14 expresses with the premium clusters it was around the time I was looking (early 14) I really wanted the premium cluster so any that had it interested me, couldn't find any In 4wd for some reason.

Not many 13's had the 8 speed 13 is the only year you can get the 8.4 touch screen and center console shift it's really cool looking.

It is a Tradesman or Express with a gauge cluster swap. You can tell by the door panels.

Also it doesn't have the upper glove box door. So depending on the site you found it it could of been swapped in. I do remember seeing some 2012 express models that came with the trailer brake controls have the SLT and up Evic cluster. So it's possible that it was a upgrade option for the tradesman/express trucks. Sucks they stopped doing it.

Um that's not true. My truck stock was a 2013 express w/ trailer tow package which has the brake controller and came with la crappy 3.5" screen.

Thanks, lots of good information guys. I can't imagine it would be too expensive for Chrysler to just start making that 7" cluster standard on all trims. Even the Tradesman/Express. It's such a nice looking screen. That 3" screen in the standard cluster wouldn't be as bad if the graphics didn't look like they were from 1986.

Thanks for the correction. It was the 2012 models that got the upgraded cluster with the trailer brake controller option. 2013 express models had an option for the upgraded premium display. Though I can't remember how much extra it was. I remember emailing Ram hoping they would bring that option back for 2014 and adding the 8 speed as an option on the 2013 Express models, neither of which came true!

As far as I know they had the option for it from the factory I saw many brand new expresses that had them... Unless the dealer was swapping them in but I really don't see that happening.

Even Laramie 3500's have a column shifter, but big horn trim and up the column shifter has a chrome end on this does not.
