so I have a 2010 quad cab with the storage cubby's under the rear seats and I usually keep rags in there.

This morning I go out to grab something out of one of the cubby's and the rags are wet. I haven't left my windows open or spilled anything so I have no idea where the water could be coming from.

any ideas?

Probably the third brake light. I put a new gasket on this past weekend, tested it with hose and no leaks!

Just waiting for a good rain for that final test.

Most likely your 3rd brake light seal is leaking. Almost everyone on here, and other RAM forums, that have water underneath their backseat is because of the 3rd brake light seal.

X4 - 3rd brake light. I fixed mine in the Home Depot parking lot in about 5 minutes with a piece of weather-stripping. I park on a slight upslope so all of the water that hits my roof runs back across the poorly designed light.

I believe you have to buy the whole light to get the gasket. Mine started leaking when my truck was 6 months old. The gasket actually looks like the peel and stick weather strip by frost-king they sell at home depot. In fact I know some guys on here have used that exact stuff. Even with a new light the OEM gasket is crap. The dealer replaced mine under warranty, and I took off 2 days later and replaced the light with the oem upgraded led light and camera, which came with a much better gasket. That said, some frost king weather strip and some RTV will fixit for good.

Just freaking amazing how common this is and still a problem on the new trucks mine is a freakin 14, and I know guys with 15's that leaked too.

thanks. I put some rtv on it yesterday and If that doesn't do the trick I will pick up some weather strip at HD

If the third brake light is leaking enough to wet rags in a storage cubby under the rear seat, shouldn't the op notice a lot more wetness in other places?

you would think so but I never noticed water anywhere else. I looked at my headliner yesterday and it looks like there is a small water stain on it, but if not for the cubby I may have never noticed

I took the 3rd light off my 2015 and it looks to be a pretty decent gasket under there. Soft spongy material, not a paper type like some have said on the older trucks that leaked. I think Ram fixed this issue but I don't want to find out the hard way.

Ram has not fixed this issue my truck is a 2014 and it leaked into the cubby behind the seat, reg cab same as the op. The cubby will actually hold water in it and will not drain. Mine did it twice, the first time I assumed I just left the window open. The carpet was damp but not wet, the water runs in thru the brake light and drips out of the headliner into the bin..

This issue has been reported on 2015's as well and a search on any of the ram forums or google will find numerous complaints.

run to lowes and grab a pack of the M-D Building Products 0.59-in x 10-ft Black EPDM Rubber Window Weatherstrip
is it what i used after seeing on another forum and that stuff works great here are the pics from after bring my truck to the dealership and them not fixing it correctly.

after noticing the water leak in my truck called the dealer brought it in for repair, wow sadly mistaken for being fixed here are the photos as proof.

IMG_2386_zpsrohkmecj.jpg
you can see the poor attempt at fixing by the use of sliicone
IMG_2390_zpszd1p3eti.jpg
once again condensation in the light

IMG_2392_zpsdywqeamt.jpg
you cant really notice it but there was a pool of water behind the light

here's the proof, a poor poor attempt using a trash foam for repair and a crappy attempt at that fixing a problem.

this is the finished product, it has been on the truck for probably 2 months and there has been a few monsoons come through south Louisiana and has not leaked once. the material is almost 3 times as thick as the original gasket, works for me.

After several days of crazy rain the area behind the 3rd brake light was bone dry. I stuffed in some additional weatherstripping to keep it that way. Maybe the newer trucks have better gaskets, not sure.

maybe it was the "sex on the fold flat floor" that left the rags wet underneath :crazy:
