Guy at work just told me about this though. He has a 2015 Jeep, I had no idea the unconnect as anything to do with the internet.. Crazy stuff.

Just found this posted on local news site. Wonder how long before they start sending out bring your truck in for recall notices.
DETROIT -- Fiat Chrysler has decided to recall about 1.4 million cars and trucks in the U.S. after two hackers were able to take control of a Jeep over the Internet.
The company will update software to insulate the vehicles from being remotely controlled. It also says in a statement that unauthorized remote manipulation of a vehicle is a criminal act.
The recall affects vehicles with 8.4-inch touchscreens including 2013 to 2015 Ram pickups and chassis cabs and Dodge Viper sports cars. Also covered are 2014 and 2015 Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee and Cherokee SUVs, as well as the 2015 Chrysler 200 and 300, and the Dodge Charger and Challenger.
Fiat Chrysler says it also has taken network-level security measures to prevent hacking. Those measures require no customer action.

The dealer updated mine on July 16th without me even asking. I only knew because I went to update it and it was already updated, so I looked at the receipt, and sure enough it said that they performed a software update.
Not sure if this happened to others, but the update turned the volume for navigation instructions all the way down to zero, so I had to turn it back up in the settings.

Yeah even stranger than when they put mine in audio at least that made sense. But less visibility Exterior is truly whiskey tango foxtrot.

I updated mine via the u(n)connect website user portal. However, it still shows that I have this recall outstanding, weird.
So much hype that two people went out their way to hack and now this, just the media making a big deal out of it. Only time Id start worrying is when this knowledge to hack the vehicles becomes public domain.
