I'm at 35983 miles currently. Obviously my 36K portion is almost up. Looking to purchase an extended warranty. What did you guys pay for yours? What mileage and months did you choose or did you go lifetime? Also, did you buy through Ram/Mopar or your dealer? Thanks

$2300 Lifetime Maxcare with $100 deductible through some dealer in Michigan I found on the net.

I already cashed in on a free rental car for 2 weeks when my transmission was being redone. A loaner/rental is one of the benefits that kicks in even before you factory warranty expires.

MOPAR directly sells at MSRP. Dealers can set their price and it is negotiable. There are a couple dealers mentioned often in the forum, don't recall off hand, that discount more than others. I don't know of anyone buying directly from MOPAR as I think that is something relatively new. There are dealers that sell the plans via the web, however. Dunno if you need an inspection at that many miles and how that would work.

I think a grand for my b2b 100k, if I had ANY wiggle room I would of sprung for the life time for 2300.. my budget at the time was just too tight to justify that extra cost.

I bought mine through credit union. I could take it to any shop including any dealership. It covers me for for 100k. I think I got it for $900.

The web is full of bad experiences with third party warranty/service plans. Shops hate to service them because they pay so poorly. Stick with warranty plans sold by Chrysler/FCA. You can thank me later. :)

I bought through one of the online dealers. Paid 2300 something (MOPAR Maxcare lifetime). 4x4 2015 a few months after I got it (at 12,000 and 1 year you have to pay more, is my understanding). This was a little over a year ago. If you don't have 4x4 it's a little cheaper.

I would guess that bad faith denials are less common as well. Just a hunch. Could be reverse for all I know. But FCA has more incentive to keep customers happy and has more to lose as far as brand goodwill.

I purchased lifetime max care for $2390 when my truck was 3 months old and about 6k miles from Bob Kline @ Ziegler Chrysler in Michigan. It took about 10 minutes start to finish.

Does anyone know if you are able to finance the warranty? $2300 in on shot is a bit much lol.

You can finance it with the car in the same loan but doing so:

1) Might raise your rate or make you not eligible for special incentive rates, particularly if you were putting nothing down or very little down in the first place.

2) Any refund on the service plan will be made to the lienholder as long as you owe money on the vehicle (not really a negative but realize any refund is going to reduce your loan amount and not go into your pocket).

If that's too much money, the non-lifetime plans are less. Probably 1000-1500 or so depending on years and mileage. The non-lifetime plans are also transferrable if sell or give the car away while the lifetime plans are not (though they are refundable on a 7 year/100k pro-rated basis, if memory serves). The lifetime plans only make sense if you plan on keeping the vehicle longer than the 100k or 7 years or whatever. I think those plans run around 1500-ish. The MOPAR plan also includes little things like trip interruption coverage and 5 days of rental for mechanical breakdowns. Also, keep in mind the prices quoted here are for the 100 deductible plans--you have to pay 100 each time you bring it into the shop but not for each separate repair (that's my understanding). The zero deductible plans are very expensive.

One final consideration is nothing is certain. MOPAR could go belly up and leave us high and dry. Or they might get real picky on what they're choosing to cover as "mechanical defects" and what is simply "wear." As long as FIAT is humming along I don't expect too many problems. Also a good relationship with your dealer will help--if they want to go to bat for you it will make a huge difference, just like regular warranty work. Just some of my thoughts.
