Yoooo, been a while but I'm back, but not because I bought a RAM tho. I just began an update to a previous build. Found here...

http://www.ramforum.com/f51/custom_rcsb_door_panel_build_4_x_6_5_s-53960/

Guy is looking for an upgrade to negate the hearing loss incurred over the past year, so this go round we're going with 8 - 6.5" and 4 - super tweeters...... Per door.

Goals:
To be loud as F***
Withstand abuse of a, well over, 150 db vehicle

Panel will be vinyl wrapped to match interior.
The baffle will be black stained pine with edge lit plexi perimeter and a etched plexi glass window with the company logo.

For myself, I want this to be a "put me on the map" type of build. I've been doing jobs for local guys for a bit, and for the most part they just want the cheapest option possible with no regards for craftsmanship/materials used etc... Now I have the chance to put my skills to the test and see what I can come up with and make these guys see what they're missing out on.

Here's the panels as I received them

First step was to take a 1/4 sheet of mdf and trace the outline of the panel. This will basically just add strength to the backside. I also started working out different arrangements of the speakers

F61B34F9-EBBA-4049-ACE9-84D98339D341_zpsag1mlyxu.jpg

First attempt was to kerf a few strips to make the frame...

Now I plan on having a border with some edge lit plexiglass so whatever size the frame, I need to subtract about an 1" all the way around. This was just too tight

Plan B was to cut some more of the panel and move the tweeters up, and cut the bottom corner some more to give more length for the speakers.

Now that I'm pretty sure I can fit all this **** on the door, something I wanted To incorporate, pending space, was to add etched backlit plexi glass with the guys company logo.

In the pic, you can see above the tweets where this logo will go

Of course this is all trial and error so nothing up to this point is permanent so well see how it goes

The last pic is about what I decided to roll with. Best combo of fashion:function I could come up with.

So I started cutting all the frame pieces

Getting creative with templates for the window with company logo

Now we have the frame, I cut the pine baffle to test fitment again.... Looks like a winner

Next step... Is to blend the frame to the panel So it does stand out like a **** on a fish...expanding foam time!

This is where I left off yesterday so I'm letting the foam harden so I can sand I down to shape.

Good work so far, excited to see the outcome.

In my experience I have found you can just as loud with minimal speakers though if designed properly. But hey more moneys for you!

I agree %100, but I'm not gonna try to teach them otherwise. The SPL scene is huge around here so it's just one dude trying to out do the next.

And like you said... Mo moneys!

Awesome!!! Welcome back Brad! Any idea on which speakers/tweeters will be used?
This is all about fun! I like fun...car audio should be fun and the outcome will be pretty damn exciting....What? Did you say something? lol
Will these Midbass speakers be in a sealed enclosure?

Yea, fun build for sure. I like the fact I can live vicariously through these spl guys.

They won't be sealed and he'll be running Rockville, pro audio speakers.

Really sensitive and can handle gobs of power. The 4 he has in each door now are ear peircing loud.

Sorry about my comment on your other thread. I see in these photos the speaker holes I was talking about aren't really holes, but cardboard templates. Old eyes suck! Looks great so far! Carry on.

Any tuning to calm the ear piercing ?

Besides the 13 band EQ in the head unit, there is none. Didn't seem to be too
Much of a concern last time so I doubt anything will change this go round.
