Not sure this has been posted... if it has, well it's up again, lol.
Latest issue of Motor Trend's Truck trend in the trending now news, Sergio Marchionne announced that the next gen Ram will be on sale January 2018. Report also says nearly 90% of the company's 1st quarter 2016 profit were from Ram. Also Chryser 200 would cease by the end of 2016... too bad about that, the new 200's are really nice cars.
I suppose the new Ram info will be leaked later 2017 then.

I hope they do something to address the payload on the 1500's! 960 lbs on my truck just isn't enough

take a look at airlift 5000 ultimate air bags, you will be able to load more then. Had them on my F150 and was easily able to drop a ton of pellets for a pellet stove in the bed without a problem....

I've got the 4 corner air suspension that levels just over 2000 lbs on my truck. Airbags do not increase your payload though. The payload number on the inside of your door is the legal limit of payload that you're allowed to carry.

DEATH TRAPS!! One almost killed me! Was going around a left hand bend on a highway at 70 mpg next to a logging truck and the car shut off!! Really big on the dash it let me know I had no power steering - YEAH NO ****!!

**** that car.

Yeah the payload on these trucks is crappy at best. A Colorado has more payload.

Are they killing off the Dart too (the 200 with Dodge badges)? Years ago I read FCA developed that platform to save FCA.

FCA seems to have a few models that sometimes shut off or lose power without warning.

I think I did hear the Dart is ending as well.....

Dart, 200, compass, & Patriot are all being dropped fairly soon. The caravan / town & country has been rumored to be dropped for awhile, might actually happen with the new Pacifica out.

They are dropping or trying to outsource the smaller cars, 'ol Marchionne sees the huge profit margins for the truck and suv segment and wants to focus there. Hope they finally build a Ram based Tahoe/Yukon alternative............

That seems awfully low. According to the document at https://www.ramtrucks.com/assets/towing_guide/pdf/2016_ram_1500_towing_charts.pdf the lowest payload is 1290lbs unless I am not understanding the chart. I just wanted to mention it.
What that chart doesn't list is the vehicle trims. The Limited is heavier, also when you factor in options like the sunroof, or ramboxes it adds weight, bringing your payload down.

On the inside of your driver's side door you'll see a sticker that says what your max payload is.

Those days are over with truck bassed SUVs besides from GM.

Besides you have the Durango and Grand Cherokee.

Here's what it looks like. Mine is 974 lbs exactly. That payload number also includes a 150 lb driver. So if you're over or under just add or subtract the difference from that.

Maybe............my previous statement was from some presser I read containing Marchionne's comments, seemed to me he was looking to get more into than out of trucks and SUV's.

And I love how the Durango looks and performs but it's not big enough, believe me, I looked!

A Ram based suv shouldn't be too hard financially to develope, they already have the power train and suspension (rear coil like the Yukon/Tahoe) just need to work on the back............you would think that wouldn't cost too much in R&D

Imagine an EcoDiesel version..........

Yeah I'm glad I know the exact payload, however it hadn't stopped me from hauling 1200 lbs in the box! Lol
