My 2016 big horn cc came without the bedliner or a tonneau cover. Can all of you give me some of your input and opinions as to which way i should go on both? Thanks so much for the help!

Me personally, I'd stay away from the plastic drop in liners. There are so many better options out there today.

My last pickup I had the Linex Ultra Spray in bedliner. No complaints whatsoever, except things slide around a bit in the bed. The truck came with a rubber bedmat so I put that overt the spray in liner & voila.....no more stuff sliding around.

This time I opted for the Mopar Bedrug. It's awesome & fulfill all of my needs for the pickup bed. Additionally it's nice & soft on your knees when you have to crawl around in the bed, but durable enough to handle a load of topsoil or gravel....you simply wash it out afterwards. If you need your truck as a contractor or such, maybe it's not the right product for you.

For tonneau covers, most people go with a hard folding variety. You really can't go wrong with any of the major brands like BakFlip, Extang & Undercover.

UnderCover Flex Tonneau Cover - SHIPS FREE

BakFlip has several models for different budgets. The G2 is the entry level & worked fine for me on my last pickup.

Same thing with the Extang.....they've got a couple of new ones out now but the Solid Fold 2.0 is a good choice....I think the Mopar offering is this one.
Extang Solid Fold 2.0 Tonneau Cover - SHIPS FREE

I went with the RetraxOne MX retractable tonneau cover. It's an awesome cover but the jury is out on whether I like it better than my old Bakflip G2. There are pros & cons to the retractable vs the solid folding.

For the price your best bet in my opinion will be getting a bedrug as its easy to maintain and stuff back there stays put for the most part. I have a drop in and I hate it once it's dirty it stays dirty.
As for the cover I would highly recommend the tonno pro lo row the price is great and it keeps the water out of the bed for the most part. It being a roll up cover you have access to the whole cab when needed all for around 250

Find a truck that has a drop in bed liner in it, lift it up and look under it. That should answer your question. Every one I've ever seen has worn the paint off the bed everywhere the plastic liner touches. I'll be taking out the one the dealer installed in mine as soon as I figure out what brand rails the previous owner had in the truck so I can install a 5'er hitch.

I have a Rhino spray on liner, Line-X is another good one. Which one is better comes down to personal preference, and the installing dealer. Stuff doesn't slide around on them either.

When I got my 99 it had a drop in. When I took it out, much of the paint in the bed was gone. Abraded away by sand/dirt trapped under the liner. Fortunately no rust as the constant sanding action took care of that too. I put in a linex spray in and was very happy. I plan to do that with my new 2016 too. But on the new truck I wanted a rubber bed mat. I couldn't find one thick enough so I made one from a stall Mat that I picked up at the farmers co-op. It's 3/4" thick and I just cut it to length and did cut-outs for the wheel wells. It's heavy! About 150# before trimming and prolly 130# now. I really like it a lot. It'll go back in after the line x too.

I also had a tri fold tonaue cover on my old truck. It was called a trifecta. Really well engineered. I picked one up for this truck as well. Looks and works great.

Line-X and a bed extender because when its folded it keeps everything within 2-3 feet of the back/tailgate, happy shopping.

My friends 2000# horse has been standing, peeing, and pooing on one of these mats for 10 years. When he cleans the stall, the mat is pretty much unblemished. It's a very high density rubber. Very heavy! It'll hold up to rocks and firewood better than most things, I'd say.

I was referring to the sidewall of the bed

That's true. I found the spray in liner helps with that. But, I'd say that a drop in liner would be best for protecting the sides in that case. But, I'd never do a drop in.... I just stack the firewood carefully against the sides. And it'll be a while before I'm willing to haul a load of rocks in my new truck....

I work at a Rhino dealer and I've spent my fair share of time around line-x. Rhino is by far my favorite as long as it's not their hard line. It's softer (more rubbery). And I install about every kind of bed cover out there. My personal favorite is the new bakflip mx4. Matte black finish and the main reason for my preference to that one. No more opening and closing the last fold when you open the tailgate. I prefer the flip covers like bakflip and undercover flex (which used to be my favorite until the mx4) due to the full access of the bed, weather tight seal (with added tailgate seal) and how low profile they are.

I did a bed rug. But the only thing going in my bed is a dirt bike an ATV or a sleeping body. I have a Lund soft tri-fold cover that is working well.dc38619529c77ffa3820b067ddd86920.jpg

When it comes to the tonneay covers, there are so many options that will do the trick....so if there are any sales you can take advantage of with one product over another....then do it.

I went with a Gator roll-up cover and am planning on going with a Bed Rug. Installed the Gator myself, was easy to do. Looks great and works as expected.
