Its not just mileage its a heat/cooling cycle as well. And you cannot get on it which is by far the harrdest thing to do. Cause you really just want to rip into them

I was wondering the same thing... You buy a brand new ram with 0 miles on the odo, shouldn't you have to take it easy for the first 500 too? I'd hate to think it already had the 500 break-in miles on it before I got it...

Most manufacturers break in engine and drivetrain components before they leave the factory so people dont blow through them in the 1st month. The only exception is when you get into real high end performance vehicles

My dealership told me when they did my gear install that there was no break in period. So I didn't take it easy. I rhomped on it day one. And it is still running great. But I probably got lucky and wouldn't recommend this method to anyone else.
