What device is it? I'm in Oregon, but enough of my coworker's alone want this done, we'd chip in to get one

I would think you could still post the step by step how-to info for doing it with the Autel device (model #?) like you had (even as a separate thread), just don't solicit within your post and hopefully you would be OK.

People can still seek you out for an assist or purchase it and do it themselves.

How do you get the pin number?

from the parts department at a ram dealer.

most people have been telling the parts manager they need a key programmed and they have someone that car do it.

Made a visit to Zach's shop this morning in Glen Burnie, MD and 10 minutes later I was driving away with no low pressure warning lights on my display. Set mine to 45 PSI and I'm running around 50 PSI in all tires when cold. I got the 4 digit key PIN from my local RAM dealer without any problem. If anyone else wants to get this done I would highly recommend making a visit to Zach's shop, nice guy, no hassles!

I just read all 18 pages of this thread. I'm looking at 17 ram 2500s. Is this still an issue with the 17s? I'm thinking about asking the dealer I'm considering purchasing from to change the settings to 60 psi at all 4 corners before I would take delivery of the truck so it's addressed from the get go.

Just so I'm clear, if i don't want any lights on, should i ask that all 4 corners be set to 60 psi?

I plan on running 70 psi at all 4 corners.

Would that throw any lights if i just left it alone? At factory settings, at what pressures front and rear are warnings triggered?

Thanks,
G

If you had read all of the pages of the thread, you'd know the dealer can't do anything to the factory settings anymore. You probably won't throw a light with the rear at 70, but you'll be close. 70 is above the factory settings for the front, so you won't get a light there. To each their own, but you can probably get away with just leaving the system alone if you're not looking to go lower than 10 PSI down in the rear and UP in the front for whatever reason. I don't think anyone with an Autel has attempted a '17 yet, so there may not be any adjustment that can be done at all. I hope that helps. Why are you wanting to run higher pressures in the front, out of curiosity?

This....the dealer can't touch the modules in the new trucks and if they updated their scan tools, the tool won't even access the modules you need to touch to adjust the levels.

Ok,

Thanks MD, that's what i thought was being said about the newer trucks, but i wanted to confirm that and yes i read all 18 pages of this thread.

Why the fronts at 70? No special reason other than I usually run all my vehicles with equal tire pressures on all 4 corners. If i get poor tire wear with the fronts at 70 i will look at doing something else. The maximum sidewall pressure is 80 psi and i don't need to run that much pressure when I'm not towing heavy

Thanks for the help

I guess they don't want us guessing about the right pressures given the loads we could haul and the load rating of the tire.

Hi MD,

Agreed. The tires have an 80 psi max for a reason, so there's some merit in that. It's just odd then that the 3500 series, which can haul more weight does not have this issue from what i read earlier in this thread. It is what it is. It's not a deal breaker for me in the end.

On my first trip pulling my camper my TPMS light came on. All pressures were high which is the only thing that could have caused this. How much increase is normal while towing?

I don't have a 2500 series ram yet, but i hope to before the end of the year. With that said on my 1500 Silverado, in the summer i typically see around 3- 5 psi temp increases while towing. I've seen as much as 6 or 7 on a particularly hot day

When we started the trip I made sure pressures were set as required. Only had the thing a week so didn't have to do much. When the light cam on The pressure in the back tires showed 94! Lowered pressure when we stopped for gas and the light went off shortly after.
