I've pretty much done with mods on my truck, but I wanted to upgrade the radio some. Ordered the kicker kits 7728 and 7741, wanted to make sure I ordered the right parts, my truck is a reg cab express with the base radio. I figured the 7741 would fit the speaker's behind the seat. I've never been one to upgrade a stereo, so I'm in uncharted territory for me, any help or advice is appreciated.

I have the same truck.... 2016 ram 1500 4WD reg cab / short box.

My truck has the Uconnect 5.0 and 6 speaker base system.

Here's my advice:

Rear speakers - These speakers aren't really useful. If you do want to replace these speakers, I suggest a midbass speaker. Reason for this is that the seat belt covers 80% of the cone area. Any speaker with tweeters (2,3, or 4 way) are wasted here.

I personally ran Kenwood Excelon 6x9s.

Door speakers - Stock size is 6x9. Depth is your limiting factor here... consider 3" as an absolute maximum. Less if the speaker has a big magnet. Again I suggest a mid bass speaker as all treble will be lost blasting into the side of your calf.

Dash speakers - Stock size is 3.5". Considering that the rear speakers are compromised by the seat belt and the fronts are limited by blasting into your lower leg, a good 3.5 is an asset here.

I personally ran Kenwood KFC-XP184C which is a component set. 7" round mid-bass placed in the door and the 1" tweeter in the dash position. It fit perfectly.

In the end, my speaker selection sound very good with the uConnect 5.0 powering everything.
I plan on eventually replacing the uConnect 5.0 with a DDX-793, using a iDataLink Maestro to keep my factory menus.

If you want to lean toward factory style improvements, the Kicker 77 speakers work well. First off they fit. Second they are the correct load for the system. As long as you have the non-alpine system you ordered the correct speakers. They are easy to install and they fit without issue.
Once you get them installed don't be shy with the qualifier and volume control. Sure you still don't have an amp or sub but the improvement is noticeable. If you are looking for a BOOMING system then you might be underwhelmed.

So you're saying don't bother upgrading to the Kicker rear speakers and get the Kicker Hideaway instead???

On a regular cab the rear speakers are so muffled by the seat belt running across the front of them that they're almost pointless

I bought two sets of the MOPAR upgrade speakers. The ones that come with actual tweeters , one pair went in the dash. The rear and the doors got just the 6x9s. Only using two tweeters up front helps out the imaging some vs having them behind you also. The 6x9s are 4 ohm so even though two may be behind you it some what reinforces the mid bass. They are louder than the OE 8 ohm 6x9s. I have done this in all of my previous Rams but they didn't use 6x9s in the corners. Sounds fine to me .

I got them out in yesterday, must say it is quite a difference over stock. Sound is a lot cleaner and louder, wasn't looking for a window shaker, but playing Ice Cube through them has a good bump. May upgrade the head unit next, though not sure what to with, I really like having the knobs and buttons of the factory setup

Is this the unit to get for the RCSB KICKER 11HS8?

Good to hear abouttobeglue. My speakers are going to be my next upgrade.
