Didn't read other replies here, but I have a 1500 Crew Cab (Lonestar trim, which also called Bighorn). There are a few times when a longer bed would be nice and I think the bigger cab makes the truck looks a little disproportionate (though I find bigger wheels tend to fix this issue), but I find myself more and more glad I got the crew cab because of the functionality and extra interior space because:

1. I can easily put 3 relatively large adults in the backseat.

2. I do gigs and take my keyboard in the truck everywhere. The Lonestar has panels underneath the back seats that turn it into a flat floor. Perfect for putting my keyboard in there. Means I don't have to worry about rain.

3. Hidden storage compartments underneath floormats (not sure if this is on shorter cab).

4. I've helped a lot of people move houses/apartments. You'd be surprised how much you can fit into the back seat (with floor panels down).

So I'd say just think about what needs you have. You mentioned the Harley. If that's a sure thing, I'd just make sure it fits in the shorter bed.

Last resort, is go with a 2500 and get nice interior space AND a long bed :p

#4 is definitely a reason to not get it. Qc have the folding flat floor and they don't come with the 2 storage bins.

I also didn't really read the replies but here's my take on the conversation:

If you are like me and are getting a truck to use the bed more than the cab, get a quad cab.

If you are going to be moving a lot of people and have kids/family traveling in it a lot, get a crew cab.

I purchased my truck knowing that I don't have kids in and out of it and will only really be using it for the bed, so I went with the quad cab for that reason.

OR you get both , crew and 6.4 bed
My 2 labs needed more room and I work out of the bed.

I have the Crew with 6'4 bed. Best of both worlds but its a beast to park sometimes! Usually just back in spots every chance I get

I have the crew with the 6'4" bed. With a family of four and extended family the crew cab is essential. Hauling material is better with the standard bed rather than short as loose material and lumber haul have shown. Yes more difficult to park but I never liked parking near people anyway. Yes, the truck looks different in comparison to the quad and short bed but I purchased with function as primary criteria.

i'm thinking that a lot of the posters here haven't owned both or they would NOT be advocating for a qcab over a crew.edit:and if they have and they still do,they are wrong.:)

Ha, had a number of different set ups, my 99 F350 4x4 dually CC long bed was a beast and thr longest truck I have had.

But for real it really just depends on if you haul people around or not, myself the back seat holds my stuff or my Blue heelers.

But no matter I am right ..lol

They said they like the smaller back set , said they like it because its cozy and they feel safe .. :)
They said the CC had to much room for them and they did not feel safe sliding all over.
I just asked her who was right and she said I was..lol

Ha its only the best of both worlds if you like the CC. lol

I've had both 14 qc big horn. Laramie crew 6.4 bed. I'd always pick this setup. If you wouldn't want it ,you might have a hard time driving a truck. Lol:happy107:
