My truck:

2016 Ram Express RCSB w/uConnect 5.0

My new radio:

Kenwood 6903s
Maestro RR
CH3 harness
20-EU55 radio antenna adapter
The Kenwood deck comes with a GPS antenna that uses a GT5 connector.

Now here's the questions...

1) Does the OEM Sirius antenna (flat style) also receive GPS ?

if yes,

2) What connector(s) does the OEM Sirius/GPS antenna use (are they separate connectors or shared)?

and,

3) Can I use the OEM antenna to feed the Kenwood as opposed to installing the supplied antenna?

Thanks in advance !

Chris

I don't think the flat antenna does GPS. Probably only the shark fin. Oem xm should be a green plug with a lock. Oem fm antenna will likely need an adapter to go into the Kenwood. I think you will have to run the Kenwood GPS antenna up the a pillar and stick it to the corner of the windshield.

Hmmm, I thought the flat antenna did both and that was what made the RA4 w/NAV a plug and play.

Back to the old drawing board I 'spose.

i have a 2016 express with the 5.0 and updated to a 8.4 an.my nav works fine the flat factory antenna carries gps and sat signal.its my understanding the shark fins other input is for the uconnect/phone signal.its posted some where the part number for the factory farka connector to aftermarket radio xm connector.if your reciever has a built in xm tuner you're good to go with just the adaptor,if not of course you'll have to get a xm sat tuner to add on to the mastero.

after doing some research the part number is hrn-ant-sat1.however looking at the back of your deck even though the flat antenna carries both sat and gps it looks like the kenwwood has plug for the gps itself.so you are going to have to use the deck supplied gps antenna.also looks your deck does not have a built in tuner but can control one so you need a tuner also.

In order to hook up the factory Sat antenna you still need the SXV300 tuner and the Maestro SAT1 adapter.

I was actually just looking into this option myself this morning for a 2014 QC with the flat antenna. I will try and find the link I found, but it confirms what et todd said above the flat antenna carrying both signals.

If you are not using sirius with the kenwood, then you should be able to buy an adaptor to connect the factory sirius connector to the back of the kenwood. If you plan on using Sirius, then you will need to run the gps antenna like adurm said.

Of course, this info was also for some older models and not 100% if this will still be the case for the 2016 trucks

Also please note you can install the GPS antenna under the dash and it will perform just fine - so IMO not worth worrying about.

adrian....just wondering, no issues at all with the gps antenna under the dash? I was thinking of possibly getting a HU with nav, but wasn't really looking forward to finding good spot to running the cable into the cab.
