So I have confirmed the truck has no fuel pressure. !996 with a 5.2. Its a short box 2wd.Just wondering if I could unbolt the bed and get enough clearance to change out the pump. The truck is very rust free so it will come apart without too much problem, I hope. Thanks for your help.

When I changed the fuel pump in my '97 I did it by lowering the fuel tank. It was a pain in the butt because we were out in the sticks hunting and had only a small floor jack to support the tank in the center. I'm sure it would be much easier at home with proper tools.
I have been told it's much easier to just remove the bed.

If your bed is empty and you have another person, removing the bed is a breeze.

yup 2 good sized men should have no problem moving a short bed. dropping the tank is also not too hard depending on how much fuel is in the tank. usually the harder part is putting the tank back in. if you empty all the fuel lifting the tank back in is not too hard.
