BEFORE SOMEONE HITS ME WITH "SEARCH FUNCTION" lol I already have went through the many many threads and every one is for 4th gen 3rds and the back housing is different. I already bought that boat rubber gasket the one guy used and tried but it wont fit a 3rd gen its much to thick.

Im not a fan of silicone'n it or using gasket maker because if a bulb goes i dont wanna deal with that.

So does anyone know of a better option? Or maybe if that new 2018 or whatever gasket they finally switched to will work on a 3rd gen back? or maybe a better aftermarket one?

I dont have a great option for you BUT the 1st Gen Raptors had an issue with the 3rd brake light leaking. I never had the issue but when I put LED's in there I figured I should do something to prevent it. When I had mine I actually used a left over electrical junction box gasket that I had and cut that to fit. It is a very thick but pliable gasket. It may not be the best option or easiest but it did work.

Did you use the SEARCH FUNCTION

Thank man. If no-one has a great easy fix I will look at going this route and making one [emoji106] seems like it being such a famous issue someone out there woulda made a better direct replacement but I haven't been able to find one

What about a make your own sheet gasket thing. Most part stores sell the sheet cut it to fit then you have a gasket and no garbage later

Wonder if sink drain putty would work??
Now that's a unique idea, I bet you could use some kind of putty like that and work well

I had a problem with the Brake light leaking on another truck. I took wax paper and taped it around the brake light then filled it with clear silicone and wiped of the excess. Let it dry for a few days and it sealed up perfectly. I haven't taken a look at my Dodge to see if I could do this yet but it worked great on the old truck.

Did my preventative fix using MD brand Rubber weather stripping this morning on my 2018. it is a bugger scraping the oem foam off which indeed is quite thick and wide but its still foam at best which still concerns me. rather than using the 7/16 x 3/8 P type i think it is, I went a step bigger. i had taken the light in with me and while the height is right, the 3/8 is definitely narrow than the oem foam strip and that concerned me. the next size up was 1/4 x 5/8 and D type which is just fine I believe and was a perfect width compared to oem and a hair higher. i could screw down snugly and the screws are plenty long anyway. I was able to snug it down fine so that it was pretty much flush to my eye. Someone made a comment somewhere on the forums wondering if the rubber strip would stay flexible. The packaging says it's flexible from -40 to +140F so I'm very confident it will be fine. btw, where a person would cut the strips at the corners, I had a tube of GE marine silicone that I put on the corners to seal the strips there.

T’were me I would go to my local embroidery supply fabric store and get a sheet of puffy foam larger than the light and cut out a gasket.
