2015 1500 Big horn spare tire popped

i have been riding on my “spare” for a few days, the shop was a week out for appointments, getting 4 new tires and a level kit (will post pics)... Anyways!! The spare tire popped, went flat this morning, there is no one that carries that funky size 235/85/17.. I found one on tire rack for 400 bucks.. I have duel exhausts, not sure what tire I can mount, or just scratch it and get another 20” tire and tire praying it will fit.. will be running 285/55/20’s by Friday..

just get a normal tire put on it, the Donut spare tire is just a temp tire on a normal rim on these trucks, i believe the correct tire size for the spare rim is a 265/70/17, ill have to look on my 13 and see what the spare tire size is on it

I thought I remember someone confirming that 33 will fit but not a 35 . It was awhile ago. something about going on a trip and didnt want the 35 in his bed taking up space. I dont know.

I dont know the maximum size you can fit, but the stock tire size is around 32" so i have no doubt a 33 would fit, but a 35" if you have dual exhaust that may be a bit much

Alright, I will just buy another factory wheel and throw a 33 on it.. I am running 33’s anyway.. better than spending 400 for that spare tire, ridiculous.. I can’t believe Chrysler would put such an odd ball size tire in that wheel for spare..

its because its a temporary tire, that $400 tire is good for like 60 miles or something like that, i watch em go on craigslist for $50 lol, i bought a few for some burnout fun i plan to have.

its cheaper and better to just put a normal tire on the spare 17" that comes as the spare, they put that odd tire on to save weight and a little bit of space under the truck, although id much rather have a real tire than the space saver

Now you can take that spare rim from under the truck and hit it with some polish and make it look really nice lol...

If you keep your stock spare wheel, get a 285/70/17 to fit and match when using 20" wheels.
20" stock tire = 33"
285/70/17 = 32.7 or about a mid way worn stock 20" tire - perfect.

My truck has a full size spare 285/60-20 SRA on a steel rim. A while back another member fit a 285/65-20 under there.

Still trying to find a solution, I hear on the 2015’s you can’t fit an alloy wheel underneath? Can you change the resize of retainer on the cable? Or just have to get a 20” steel wheel?

Solution found.. bought a spare wheel and tire off of eBay for 100 bucks.. better than 400 just have to dispose of my precious spare wheel and busted tire

What trim level do you have? I tried to find a 20 inch steel wheel to do this very thing and the local dealers told me it did not exist.

go get the spare from a 3rd gen, all of my 3g rams have a 20" steel spare on them

Thanks for the suggestion, I found that wheel, one more question though. Do you know if it fits in the 4th gen spare tire carrier?
