Looks like the Payload numbers are up on the 1500. Just looked at a new 2019 Limited 4x4 pretty loaded out and it was over 1800# payload. Looking at my Larry coming in at 1400#.

Or is it a numbers game because "I can tow" 10K to the 2019 8K

Ok the few VINS I have looked up are showing ~1800# payload and ~8K towing in just about any trim on the RAM website, slight variations.

If I'm not mistaken, the payload is up about 200# on the 5th gens ... Which is also about the same amount of weight that they've dropped, so it may just be relative to the GVWR.

Well, the gvwr for 2019’s are the same, so the only way for payload to go up, is if the curb weight of the truck goes down

and considering they now have heavier 6 bolt axles it does not make any sense that the gvwr is the same. and if a limited is showing 1800lbs and your Laramie is 1400 I would say that's a big increase considering the limited is heavier due to more standard options. I am going to look at a Laramie quad cab should bring my payload up to about 2000lbs that's a lot better than mine right now which is 1421lbs

Every VIN I looked at on the RAMRUCKS website showed just about the same payload within a dozen pounds. SO is there a "MAX PAYLOAD" for 1500s to stay legal? By legal, I mean stay within some ******** number? Like the 2500 and 3500, what is the real difference? (I get the rear springs, but other than that.

Max payload is just the highest payload a truck offers when properly configured. So, a 1500 tradesman regular cab with a gvwr of 6900 lbs and no options will have a much higher payload capacity than a fully loaded 1500 limited 4x4 crew cab with the same gvwr.

The ONLY difference between a 2500 and 3500 equipped the same, is rear coils vs leafs.

I get what you are saying and i get how the payload works but on the RAM site a loaded limited had the same payload as a "lesser" equiped truck. So either the site is wrong or they are playing with the numbers. And its not just payload it also towing

Obviously I was using that as an example. Doesn’t matter what year we’re talking about. Everybody’s truck will have a different payload number depending on what options the have, given they are the same gvwr.

just went on the Canadian build site the gvwr is now 7100 lbs not 6900 take the weight savings in the new design 225 lbs the gvwr upgrade 200lbs gives 425 lbs more payload therefor I was not far off on a Laramie quad 4x4 my payload as per sticker is 1421 plus the new addons equals 1846 lb payload they have not stated the axle ratings yet but my guess is they are going to be around 4100-4200 llbs minimum due too the gvwr increase .

Just last night I saw a commercial that advertised 2300lb payload on the new 19 ram 1500. They didn't specify what model that was though. But if true that's huge for the new ram and will be popular with the RV crowd.

https://www.ramtrucks.com/2019/ram-1500/capability.html

I don't know what configuration you need to get that payload limit but that's an impressive number for a half ton truck

Bingo Barr nailed it. GVWR up from typical 6,900 to 7,100 and base weight down 225. All things being equal we should see about a 425 pound improvement. I tow commercially so I was very happy to see the GVWR brought up. The 5 lug was never the weak link but for some odd reason Ford fans sure thought it was something to pick at.

I just ordered a 19 Laramie Crew with e-locker and 3.92 gear. My Pulling Capacity max will be 11600 Lbs with a payload Cap. of 1980.
My under standing from dealer specs I could have got to 11800 pull and payload cap od 2010 if I would have added the Bilstien suspension option which is 4x4 off-road package. I declined the off road package. It depends on the 19 what your trim and options you order. E-locker can be ordered unless you order 3.92 gear as well. Its really different ordering the 19 then when I ordered the 14 Laramie Crew. Price is much higher as well over the 14 Laramie crew.

The 2019 door payload stickers I have seen for Limited trim 4x4s range 1420-1480 without the eTorque option and without the Ram Box option. Not much if you’re wanting to tow a hefty trailer and a family but still a good improvement over the previous generation. ETorque adds about 80 lbs so payload will be lower. Not sure how much weight the Ram Box adds.

Have also seen a 1300 pound payload sticker on a Laramie 4x2 with lots of options. Maybe the 4x2 has the 6900 rating and the 4x4 has the 7100 rating?

I know the payload on my 2019 laramie ccsb 4x4 is less than 1400# per the sticker on the door. I was looking for it to be more as that is only 20-30# more than my son's identically equiped 2017..I have heard that the payload sticker on the door shows a lower number than say my 2017 sierra because they have already subtracted out for 300# of driver/passenger and full fuel and 70# hitch. I am hoping that is true. otherwise no more cargo capacity but some other improved stuff.

they may be showing that on their website, but I just got back from weighing mine with me ( 225# ) in it and approx 120# of fuel and the total was 5960# leaving less than 1200# payload. so a little depressing when you consider an 80# WHD, the hitch wt. of my 5000# trailer and the wife and the rest of a tank of gas. not much left for groceries and etc.

My 2019 Laramie 1500 has a 11600 Pull Cap.

weighed mine and got 5960# with me (225#) and 20gals. fuel (120#). does not leave near as much payload as factory ads would leave you to believe. I have a laramie 4x4 ccsb 5.7. weighed my truck with travel trailer attached yesterday and got 11,540#. 6580# on the two truck axles and 4960# on the trailer axles. seems I can only throw a few bags of chips in the truck bed but maybe can pack a little more stuff in my trailer. trailer is 28' coachmen. supposedly 5050# empty from factory.
