Wanted to see how the OEM factory exhaust tips look finished in black but also wanted the ability to be able to return the stock tips back to chrome if I wanted.

With Plasti Dip you can always remove it later if so desired so I decided to give it a shot on the exhaust tips.

End result was great and lots of others have had great success with plasti dip on exhaust tips without any issues!

Check out the video and let me know what you think!

I did mine on my previous truck, lasted for well over a year before I sold the truck and they still looked just like they did when I first did them. I did the set on my new truck and expect to see the same results. They look way better black than the chrome.

My friend showed me this on his Passat muffler. Couldn't believe it but seeing is Believing.

Glad I did it. Looks great.

Didn't think plastidip would hold up on an exhaust. I'm trying to ditch all the chrome on my truck, and here I was thinking I'd have to buy new tips.

Thanks for the vid. Walking through the process makes for a lot less stress and uncertainty.
Did my pipe today. Since the V-6 pipe is part of the muffler I taped off the area and did three coats 30 minutes apart. Very easy and looks great.

A worthwhile inexpensive detail. Now to see if it holds up

Well damn, wouldn't have thought PD would hold up on the tips. Even the high temp paint I have put on is coming off in a.couple spots. Guess I'll give this a shot.

LOL, I literally just came back from the store with sandpaper, high temp etching primer and high temp matte black rattle cans. I wish I had seen this first! Good job, and as others say, if it holds up to the heat, awesome!

I wonder how this is going to look after 6 months of regular driving. The tips get a little bit hotter than just sitting out in the sun.

Anyone done the exhaust? I have an '18 Express Blackout, V6 and you can see the muffler and pipe. Since the everything else is blacked out already, easily seeing the silver exhaust is bugging me.

I had the truck about a day before I cut down and PD'd the 10' long silver antenna!

I’m sure if you clean it up before your spray it, it’d work

I did PD on the wheels and all the chrome on the front grill and exhaust tips on a Charger I had. I only kept the car six months before I got back into a Ram. The day I got rid of it looked the day as good as the day I put it on. I put some clear coat over top the black but not sure how much it mattered. A friend of mine also put it on his wheels after I was raving about it and it lasted well over a year before he just got new wheels. He said it needed some touch up but from a casual observer it still looked good. If you are OCD then expect some touch up but otherwise a very cheap and easy mod to black out and protect at the same time.
