So just as the title says, my tires are shot so next weekend I'm going to go tire shopping. Currently I have a set of Goodyear Wrangler 225/75r16 tires on the truck. I'm not going Goodyear again. I had similar trash on my old Ranger and they're pretty much the same trash on the Dodge.

My delima is that in 225/75r16 I can get AT tires ranging from $90-$150 where I live. Most have to be ordered and the few that don't only seem to have 2 in stock. My truck also appears to work with 245/75r16 tires. I can get some really good street tires in that size for in the same price range that I'd get those AT tires. Since my truck is only 2WD and I mostly do street and dirt road driving I have no real need for ATs.

So the question. Has anyone had 245/75/r16 tires on these trucks? How does the truck drive vs the stock 225/75r16 tires? I like my for my vehicles to be responsive when I turn and I'm just curious how these trucks handle wider tires on the stock rims.

For steering response, you would be better off sticking with the narrower tire.

245/70R16's or 245/75R16's will fit both the rims and the truck well and should soften the ride slightly without hurting the handling. The taller you go, the less that 5.2 will like towing/hauling with it, unless you have the 3.92 axle.

If it has 3.21's IMO going taller than 245/75's would probably make the truck pretty lazy.

According to Dodge Forum's vin Decoder it's "3.21 axle ratio" under stock setup. I doubt it's been changed since it came out but I also take their vin decoder with a grain of salt.

I'll probably stick to 225/75's. I don't see much reason for the extra wide tire. :/

I will say that IF my truck does have 3.21 gears it's got some pretty good pep for a truck with gears that tall. If I recall doing 80MPH with my current 225/75R16's put me right at 2100-2200RPM.
