Started on my retrofit. Takes about 1.5 hrs each with a heatgun and screw driver and a knife. I've researched the process to death. Its not as easy as non permasealed units but isn't impossible like most say.

Let’s see how mangled your housing are lol. It’s not impossible to open them up, Just time consuming especially if you use the oven method.

Doesn't look too far off from the "pro shops" on YouTube to be honest.

You must have a special skill. I spent 5 is hours opening one headlight up and didn’t even get the old glue out of the molding.

I think I’d rather push nails under my toenails than try that again.

Ive built myself a few sets. Some opened up easy others not so much. Key is patience if your using the oven method. It’s too easy to mingle the housing up using a heat gun.

With that tool, an oven set to 225, and preperation I was able to get into both headlights in less than an hour including removing the glue. With my gloves on I was able to grab them straight out of the oven and start working immediately.

Im curious about this as well. I have the tool you mentioned, got it from amazon. I have OEM projector lights that I'm planning on tackling here in a couple weeks.

Yes oems off a 2013, took 3 heats per lamp. Threw 1 in the oven, took That one out and I would replace it with the other one I just keep going back-and-forth till I had them apart. I know it took me just over an hour for both **** it this way. I only had the lights out about 5 minutes at a time till I’d swap back.

The tool was really only good on 2 sides and one side was as they were intended, the side that meets the grill was not really the way they are intended but made quick work of getting them apart.

I also have a set of duals that are aftermarket, they only needed 1 heat. After I did some factory headlights these were done in 15 minutes total.

The reason I have both, I started with quads but won’t fit the projector and shroud I want so I bought some duals off amazon that will fit a 3 inch projector and full size shroud.

Mine where after market. I'm sure the OEM will be more difficult but it will save the housing from getting mangled by a screwdriver

Good to know. I am too cheap to purchase aftermarket quads.

Initial mockup, halos mounted. Projector halo is X5 style switchback. I'm planning to run the 3 turn signal lights sequentially if possible. The sequencer is in the mail.

That looks pretty good! Put a LED in the high beam for a quick response, as the projector will provide the high beam light once they are done anyways.

I threw my old trucks in the oven for 20 mins - came apart easy but still was a mess - and it wasn't till putting it back together where my problem was. Even though I thought it was good and tight.. and sealed - next wash they were all filled with condensation.. haha So - my butt will never take apart heads again :)

That's also on my list. Did you have problems with the projector shroud hitting the bottom trim? Looks like I may have to trim some off for full adjustment.

My projector hit the shroud no less the projector shroud so I ditched them and on the middle of doing some duals for the room

I wonder how retroshop is able to fit there's in there with full adjustments. I was hoping that the x5 shroud would fit better since they were flat top and bottom.

They trim many of the shrouds and mostly use the 2.5 size projectors like yours. I went full size

how did you remove all the old permaseal from the housing grove and such?

how did you reseal your headlights? I purchased black morimoto butyl tape to reseal mine.

Just stretch the butyl out and place in a nice thick, even string all around the channel, then place lense back on assuring clips are lined up, then reheat in the oven and press together?

Did you use clamps, or ratchet straps or anything special to hold the pieces together after setting them?
