How do AMPs come down with the doors closed? I have wheel to wheel and I like using them to reach into the side of the bed. I'm pretty sure they don't come in wheel to wheel

I have the Westin HDX Drop Steps as well and I dig em. AMP is widely recommended , couple guys I work with have them on their Ferds and they love em. I like the look of a drop step that's why I went that route

I get compliments all the time about how great the drop steps look.

You can open your door then shut it. Before they close place foot on it and they will stay out. There’s a safety built in it they get hung up. I do it to clean windows or roof

I actually did not know that, and did not want to try it. Thanks for such useful information!

New here, first post. Shopping for a truck, have my eye on a 2017 Big Horn Crew Cab. My wife is barely 5 ft tall, going to need running boards (or a ladder). Looking for something durable, on the wider side for a stable step.

Recommendations?

I installed these on my Crew Cab 2 years ago when truck was new. They are very similar to the factory boards on my previous Super Duty. I and my passengers like them. They're width provides a very stable footing. Reasonably priced, and I installed them solo in about 2 hours. They are a simple bolt on installation, and I think they look like the truck came with them.

I realize your post asked about "running boards," so you may not be interested in oval side steps. This is what I installed on my 2017 Ram. They are actually better made, far more functional, and much less expensive than the Westin step-to-step bars I had on my previous Ram.

These oval steps are extremely sturdy. I'm 240 lbs and they do not flex even a little bit. They are plenty wide, so my short wife has no problem getting in or out. In fact, they protrude beyond the outside edge of the tires, which helps prevent (but not eliminate) door dings.

If you're interested, you can read my complete review on the Amazon site (it's by "Kindle Customer" on Jan 22, 2018). These step bars still look brand new after seven months. Of course, that's not a very long time, plus I'm in Florida ... no idea how they might hold up to a MA winter.

I have the factory boards plus the air suspension which lowers nicely for my shorter better half. She calls it her kneeling bus!

Can even 1 person NOT refer to side step bumpers as running boards.

I’ve been around a while now in this world. I’ve not once heard somebody say “hey I’m looking for side step bumpers for my truck” in fact if I did I think I’d get the wtf look from dude at parts counter. Maybe this is a geographic thing? Running boards, nerf bars, side steps. But never heard side step bumpers :bleh:
