Some folks may tell you not to put above a 20wt oil in , I say no worries because your owner's manual says you can use 30wt if 20 isn't available and it actually recommends 30wt oil for towing . Besides that so many people use 30 & 40wt oil in these Hemi's with Zero issues [emoji1303][emoji1303]

Before we go blaming inadequate lubrication let's rule out exhaust bolts. Especially if there was zero change in the tick even after an oil change, usually you will get some kind of change especially in young oil when the vii's are new. If you find out the bolts are good, maybe consider redline 5w30. If you do so keep us posted, but it is a real possibility the exhaust bolts are bad.

My wife was a Subaru and that called for 0w20 or 5w20 full synthetic (forgot which one) but I remembered the owners manual said if the full synthetic was not available, 5w30 conventional was the preferred replacement. Weird stuff.

"Back in the day" everything had 5w or 10w 30 in it, I'm sure my 5.7L V8 will enjoy the 5w30 Redline just fine.

First off welcome, lol.

Secondly, I think if the noise goes away after the eng warms up, it is likely to be manifold bolts...my hemi tick is there no matter what the eng temp is.

X3 for me on verifying the manifold bolts for tightness as broken and loose ( mainly broken ) manifold bolts have been a huge issue with these trucks at all mileages due to the manifolds warping with normal heat .
Good luck Sir !

Even as low as 4000 miles?

Thats crazy, WTF are they made out of?

My tick doesnt go away, although it does seem a bit louder at first. I would be less than thrilled if my 5K mile old truck needed manifold bolts tightened and/or replaced.

I haven't heard of them breaking at 4k but I wouldn't be surprised if they had .
Dealer will most likely not even check them , most dealers go-to is aww that's just the normal hemi sound . Trust me it's not normal .
Most manifold bolts seem to break between 30 & 60k ...

Any easy way to tell if they are broken?

I know for sure my dealer wouldnt check them. I guess they got "close" when they said it sounds like an internal exhaust noise and not actual engine pinging but of course it was quickly followed by "they all do it, some are just louder than others".

Same knock noise in my truck ... you can YouTube my noise ... dealer said piston slap(normal they say) I’ve heard personally brand new ones do the same... goes away once warmed up. I’m not worried anymore ... still don’t like it but not worried . Worse comes to worse engine dies and I put a new 392 in it!

Absolutely correct. I just posted an update on this issue. We must be knowledgeable and factual when are speaking to the dealers about this issue.

Just attempt.to tighten each one , the ones that just keep turning are broken .

I'm not sure what the specific torque is but I'd say 175 - 225 inch lbs wouldn't hurt them just make sure they are cool enough to touch .
Maybe someone will chime in with the actual tq .

If you guys are running 20wt oil you may just be hearing normal 20 wt oil noise .

The lack of film strength and viscosity makes everything louder in the engine , especially during a cold start and warm up .

Switched to PUP 5W-30, in hopes that it would quiet it a bit. It has not. In my case that might mean its not oil-related, although I might try RL 5W-30 just for shiggles.

Imo noise or no noise you just can't go wrong with Redline 5W-30 oil and a quality filter.

I had some broken exhaust manifold bolts on my 2012 Hemi and it made all kinds of noise, I thought I had valve issues, its worth checking out its a common problem with Hemi’s

I will say the only time I had the piston slap type noise was with Pennzoil, not with Castrol, Amsoil, or M1. No noises with Redline.

I looked at some YouTube videos of the broken exhaust stud ticking and mine isnt even close, so unless its just started, Im thinking mine isnt that.

I have a 2018 6.4 with less than 1,000 miles that ticks/knocks. Dealer said it was injectors. However, when you pop the hood you don't hear it. When you crawl under it the sound is much clearer and louder. I have read other posts about loose manifolds and exhaust leaks. Hope you post the outcome because there are a lot of 2500 6.4 cruising SD without that noise. Gonna have them check mine again when I take it back for the Cruise Control recall work.
