'98 Dodge Ram 2500 OEM style headlights (9004's ONLY). While replacing to newer halogens (Philips from Silvannia bulbs)... noticed the GROUND wire connection BURNT pretty badly (see pics). Here is my question. Is the STOCK OEM wiring of the headlights correct? (See Pics). My LEFT socket was wired from the left side of the socket to its right side: black, purple, red... the Right socket was wired (again left to right): red, purple, black.

All my lights are and were working CORRECTLY after carefully following the OEM 9004 wiring config. currently on my '98 Dodge matching each wire to wire as I replaced each 9004 socket after noticing the charring.

LEFT socket (#,##,###) Right socket (###,##,#) if this makes a better correlation with BOTH socket clips oriented in matching INSTALLED position.DSCF1628.JPGDSCF1628.JPG DSCF1629.JPG

Here are the pictures. HATE to have my truck burn down for something silly.

Thanks SO Much Vanquish Auto. I'm sitting here thinking... "OK! Fire extinguisher is right behind my driver's seat!" The wiring just didn't look right to me at all. I was EXPECTING to see the socket wiring to be:

#,##,###, #,##,###

and NOT: #,##,###, ###,##,#

So? I'm wired correctly? #,##,###, ###,##,#

Installed BRAND NEW HI-PROF Dorman 9004 (both sides).... but also have on order the AutoZone NOVITA SC47 which "look" pretty beefy, also, just no reviews with them.

Lighting STILL SUCKS, though. Looking at Morimoto LED Projectors or the HID system for retro, in the coming weeks.
