It all depends on what you are planning on doing with it. Id say if you are constantly on washboard roads or dirt trails with washouts you don’t want to slow down for then absolutely. If occasion dirt trail Bilstien will do just fine

100% digging this build to a T. Just picked up a 16 eco diesel and am compiling a build list that you have hit perfect so far. Definitely looking to use some of your ideas. Simple tasteful and functional. Very nice work and fab.

Thanks buddy. It’s been a lot of trial and error seeing what works and what doesn’t with these trucks

I believe that man. I enjoy seeing something outside of the normal cookie cutter builds. Nothing wrong with it, just my style is more build it yourself. These trucks have tons of potential corked up in them. 4 link rear, ifs with a good amount of usable travel, on a sound drivetrain with tons of comforts inside. Huge improvement just with the simple front and rear bumper mods. Those are high on my to do list that's never ending.

Speaking of which, how's it run without the rear sway bar?

Ya I hear ya, always get more sense of accomplishment when you do it yourself! When you start to do yours feel free to ask any questions and I’ll pass along any info I still have. These rear ends have tons of potential for sure, eventually want to go to coilovers with maybe a bedcage and let the 4 link really shine.
Night and day difference without the rear sway bar but tons of body roll with the extra weight I have back there. Fwy speed maneuvers and highway interchanges were a little hairy at first but there is no way I’d put that piece of junk sway back on.

Thanks I'll definitely keep that in mind. Still just tossing ideas around on which direction I wanna go. Gotta hold off on spending for a little to recoup some $ and I'm gonna research what suspension and engine tuning im gonna run. I really like those sliders you built....definitely curious the most about them. Once I get some decent shocks on this thing I'm 100% ditching the rear sway bar, don't think these oem paper weights would be too happy if I did that.

:D I'm liking this thread. I still haven't really done much with my 1500.
Here's my prior build if your build and this are any indication of what I'm thinking now.

Dude, if i only had your skills for bending/welding metal haha, nice work.
Did you fab the rock sliders, or did you pick a rock slider kit ?
And those pics with the mountains, is that the Silverado canyon peak ?

Just trial and error really. Built everything myself.
Picture in the mountains is just outside Lytle Creek

Cut out the spare tire bracket to make room for the new water tank I plan on building.

Finished up the 2.0 version of the on board water tank. 15 gallons this time also added some baffles, a separate fill port as well as a breather so no more issues with it pulling a vacuum when I use the pump

Put my oem airbox back on so had to relocate the solar batteries to the bed and did a temporary spare tire mount to see how I like it there
