A 1500 is more than enough truck for me, and the ride in a 2500 is a lot rougher than in a 1500, so I am perfectly fine with a 1500 5.7.

Before I purchased my 2015 Big horn, I had place a deposit and then went to cancel the deal because I decided to shop for the Laramie. Dealer asked what does the Laramie have that you want, that the Big Horn doesn't have. What I wanted was Navigation, running boards, electric start, rear heated seats. They threw it all in for nothing. The navigation was just a download (simple, but the kind you would have to update no traffic with it). Running boards were the same as Laramie, and the electric start and heated seats were installed by dealer aftermarket person. All looks stock heated seat buttons and all. What is good about the dealer putting it on in my case is that it was considered as on the truck when purchased so under warranty. Point being if you can find on lot a truck with level 1 package they may install a few of the options to seal a deal. I purchased mine in February I think during truck month and held them off for a couple of weeks after placing a deposit, no rush on my end they had my small deposit and truck was basically mine on contract, so I was able to still play games negotiating or cancel the deal. Good Luck on your decision. Love my truck !

Yeah, I currently have one with Level 1 in mind with options instead that make more sense for me.

I have a level 1 Laramie.

From a pure cost point of view the level 2 is definitely not worth it, but if any of those items are a must have for you then I can see justifying it.

For me the must have is the proximity key. I've had them on my last few cars and could never go back. This was the main reason I didn't buy a Chevy ZR2 haha.

Let's take out what is already in the Level 1 group and then see if it's worth it. Also lets subtract the cost of Level 1 from level 2.

$2,995
INCLUDES:

19-Speaker Harman Kardon® Premium Sound (The alpine system sounds great in my opinion. Could use better highs though with better tweeters. My last car had a HK system)
Heated Second-Row Seats (I won't ever use them so don't care haha, but If you frequently have people sitting back there in cold climates it might be justifiable. If you have kids in car seats then they can't use them anyway).
Rear Under-Seat Compartment Storage (Some people would rather have a bigger flat floor instead of the cargo container. I wouldn't mind the container for my firearms, etc.)
Uconnect® 4C NAV with 8.4-Inch Display (With apple car play and android auto NAV is a non-issue these days)
RamCharger Wireless Charging Pad (nice to have, but plugging your phone into a USB port takes 2 seconds and if you use Car Play or Android auto then you have to use USB anyway).

So effectively it's the NAV, the heated rear seats (which the bucket seats include anyway), the rear storage and, of course, the sound system.
I have a 2017 Big Horn and hate the "No CD". Also a good Garmin GPS kicks the crap out of any factory NAV ($270 vs. $2000 sticker price) and the touchscreen on/off is lower right located - have to take eyes off road to see and reach easily. Garmin Drive Assist traffic when approaching a city can save you hours & comes with dash-cam, lane warnings, etc; all adjustable or can be turned off. Handy in my 3500.

I agree, I don't have the NAV in my current truck and don't miss it a bit. My trusty old Garmin is more than enough and with Android Auto using your phone as a nav is even easier.

Oddly enough the Level 2 equipment group adds $3,000 to the build price for the 2019 Rebel but adds $4,600 extra on the Laramie. Looks like the folks at Ram are sticking it to the people buying the high end trim packages. I see the same with the RMC trucks as compared to the Chevy Silverado trucks with the same frame, drivetrain, cab, and option packages.

It’s really crazy how they’ve gone about packaging these trucks. It’s almost like they are trying to make up for lost revenue when you start building them to suit your needs. Now of course the fun part comes when negotiating your deal at the dealership.

I have the level 2, really like the package but its not necessarily something i couldn't live without. I wouldn't let it make or break a deal either way if you like the truck. After negotiating the price on my truck it was around 48K out the door and the truck stickers for 57+....... so it really wasn't much a difference buying this one as one without it because it seems the more options a truck has the more room the dealer has on the price IMO.

That's a good deal!
I'm currently negotiating one with the FCA Affiliate Rewards Program that is also stickered at 57k and change, and I will likely come in at 49k plus TT&L.

I realize that I have a 4th gen but the most important part of choosing the Laramie over a lower trim level for me was that the push button start, cooled seats and partially real leather seats were standard. I don't think any of those features are available on the lower trims at least from the factory anyway.

You have to step up to the Laramie to get the reclining rear seat. May not be important to some but as a family we make 1400 mile round trips every Christmas to visit family. My kids do the majority of the driving now so the reclining back seat is worth its weight in gold to me. The upgraded electronic toys... I couldn’t care less about. Just an old guys opinion.

my laramie has the level 1 for 1600$ + hd radio with nav, 795$ + under rear seat storage 95$, I wish i had wireless charging but not worth the money to get level 2 package. I have always had nav and would never want to plug in my cellphone and fool with that while driving. too easy to glance over at nav screen when I need to. I dont like clutter so I miss not having wireless charging because I got used to just tossing my android phone on the console it would start charging in my last truck.

I have the level 2 Laramie and it makes long drives more relaxing for the driver and the passengers.

I have a 18 Laramie but we have all the same on my truck. I would not have gotten all the bells and ..... but it was in the lot price to go now I have them I love everything the sounds systems is incredible the cooling seat were helpful this summer when I forgot to close the sunroof blinds to me it all goes down to money bra length of time you will own it. Me I will drive it into the ground so all the options will be with me for along time.

I have the level 2, to get the advanced crash warning, due to I drive 50k annually, thinking one fender bender saved is worth it, over the next 4 years.

I checked every box except the 22 inch wheels. If I ordered it today.....I would check every box but the 22 inch wheels. I love this truck.

I have ut only because the truck I found had it and I got it for 14k below sticker. That aside, the HK system, 12" screen is amazing, cooled seats are awesome. I so like the reverse cam because you see behind you and then also an overhead view of the surrounding area so you really know whats around you. If it senses something close and your foot isnt on the brake, it slams on the brakes like your getting auto ejected from a fighter jet. The lane assist is really cool. Kinda like bumpers for kids at the bowling alley. However, if you try to change lanes without using the turn signal, prepare for a fight cause it doesnt want to let you. Took me 3 tugs before it gave in. Lol. All these features u can turn on, off and adjust settings easily. It is a big pill, but if your really getting a good deal as I did, its not even noticable.

Level one seems like its got good stuff in it.
3 grand almost more for the other level sounds pretty high
