Had a hydroplane incident while driving in a rainstorm on I-10 in Texas about 80 miles west of Houston. The truck spun around and hit the highway cable barriers. My 1500 hit the barrier on 3 sides and spun back on to the interstate. Prior to coming to a stop I was able to pull back off into the shoulder.

While the 1500 was totaled I walked away with some slightly bruised ribs from hitting the center console during the spin. (I was wearing my seat belt). The truck performed very well in the crash and had the front bumper not pushed back in to my wheel I could have driven it to the next exit without issue

When I was in the Army jumping out of planes I was told any landing you can walk away from is a good landing, I feel the same way about vehicle accidents. My Ram protected me and I walked away!

Now I have to make the decision to buy the new blacked out 2019 with the 12" screen or buy used and save $20K...

Glad you are okay.

I totaled my '03 Silverado almost a year ago to this day.

Save the money and buy my 2014...or buy exactly what you want...I wanted a 2500 and talked myself out of it and regret it.

Sounds like way too much excitement, for sure. Glad you're all right. A few deep breaths, look around for a truck you really want.

Glad you walked away. I see $10k off 2019’s in stock, so go treat yourself, unless of course you prefer the 4th gen.

What tires? How many miles on those tires. Did you have TC turned off?

Tires WILL/DO make a difference... been there an done that. These ram trucks do hydroplane very easily, IF, you dont have GOOD quality tires. (which they do NOT come with)
Its a good day when you can walk away with no harm to yourself or others.

My son saw your crash, he was coming back to San Antonio from Houston - as least think it was yours. Glad you are ok. I have not had a crash but know two others who have and like your incident they also walked away with barely any 'hurts. These are good trucks and will protect you. best
