So, the door jam on my 17 calls for 40 psi., cold. At my last tire rotation, I asked discount tire not to adjust the pressure, because the tires were not cold, and last time they did it, my tires were at 37 psi when I left home in the morning. They were cool with that and didn't adjust them.

Brought my truck to the dealer a couple days ago for the oil change. Didn't think I needed to tell them to not adjust the tire pressure, mainly because it was an oil change.

Looked at my tire pressures this morning, 36 all around. Ugh.

I don't think these guys understand tires warm up and the tire pressure goes up, thus causing the warm tire pressure to be 3 to 4 psi higher.

Just my rant for the month.

Discount Tire doesn't know their ass's from a whole in the ground. Last time I went in, they put my tires back on out of rotation, left off chrome valve stem caps, and only inflated my tires to 36 after I had new wheels put on, and broke a new center cap and left it on there hanging half off. Had i drove off, it would have fkew off and probably scratched my rim or yruck or somebody else's car. I had to being all this to the managers attention before i left. ****** service.

I disagree with, "Discount Tire doesn't know their ass's from a whole (sp) in the ground."

My experiences with Discount Tire have been outstanding, they have offered excellent advice, matched online pricing, they do everything I request and their work has been top quality.

You must have got a new employee or one that needs to be fired. Either is no excuse. I'm glad you involved the manager as some guys do not and then just ***** forever.

I agree you got "****** service". Hopefully, the manager took corrective action with his employees.

The OP didn't mention Discount as the culprit who did the dirty deed. Rather he referred to the dealer as having done it on his last service.

However, I too have had excellent service at my local Discount Tire. They don't do anything with the pressure in my tires during rotations unless I ask them to. They know better than to try and get 80 psi in a 35/12.50x18 in any event. :D

Yeah, Discount actually lowered the pressure on the first rotation, that's why I mentioned not to do it on the second one.

Then it must be my local store. Mostly full of incompetent techs apparently. 12 years ago they scratched all 4 of my OEM rims on my prior Titan when I got new tires. Had to buy me new ones. Then the recent several issues which were done by different techs each time. Plus my recently purchased wheels. 1 had a scratch and another had some thing embedded in the clear coat They ordered 2 replacements. They ordered the wrong color, then when the right ones came in, they mounted them and I went home. Noticed something looked off. Turned out they ordered the wrong offset. Then went today to get the replacements with the proper offset. Noticed they didn't put back on the chrome valve stem sleeves that we're on the ones they had just removed. Unbelievable!!!!!!

im Hoping I won’t sound harsh or making fun of you, but op, you seem to be really ticked by this, when you could stop at the gas station and check your tire pressure, fill them to whatever you want, you should be checking them from time to the me anyways with a tire gauge, I don’t think the tire sensors are that accurate if you are really into an exact psi. I’m running 34psi cold at the moment, and I don’t tow anything, but I’ll will air up if needed. Yes anybody in the tire shop can mess up, if it’s convenient for you to stop one more time, any Discount tire place will check them and fill them for free, most tire places will do the same, any gas station will turn on the air pump if you ask.

Have fun.

I have also found tire shops hesitant to inflate the tires to 40. They've explained to me that it will cause premature wear. I don't see it. The center of the tread is the same as the edges. I keep mine at 40 unless I'm towing or hauling, then it's at 44. It'll probably be a little higher once I upgrade to LTs.

And after at least 12 years, you keep going back.

I'm guessing my point was the inconvenience of having to waste 75 cents to 1.50 to fill air because the dealer lowered the pressure, when they should not have. I have never had issues with my TPMS matching my tire gauge in my glove box, which I double check with every week when I check the oil level on my vehicles. I was just pointing out that it was a minor rant. Since it is the only thing I can complain about, I'm extremely happy!
