Does anyone know what the accessory purpose of this area is supposed to be?

Um... Where did you get the switch panel?? Is that Mopar factory? Self-fabbed? Available somewhere I haven't found? That is what I am wanting to do with my left-hand "pocket" but just haven't gotten around to fabricating something!

It's a 2 switch holder from OTTRATTW held in simply by friction. The black "triangle" on top is just a piece of back plastic cut from a notebook cover and glued to the back of the switch cover. I can take this out and other than a hole drilled way in the back of the cubby for wiring, you'd never know it was there.

I have a 2015 Longhorn and I use that spot to store my Ray-Ban's. I find if I store them
above the dash they get so hot in the sun they will burn you when you put them on. Miss
my overhead storage like I had on my 2000 Ram.

Be advised that in the back of that little cubby on versions with it on the right side there is a screw for attaching the bezel to the instrument panel.

That's where I put those real sticky boogers that I can't seem to fling off my finger. Wipe off real easy on that rubber mat in there and it's easy to pull out and clean off.

I park in a parking garage so it's a perfect place for my sunglasses. I've also seen people put toothpicks there but mostly I see sunglasses.

There's a screw Under it if you want pull the radio out

Only on some trucks, I believe it's the ones with the full center console. My '14 CC, with the jump seat setup, does not have a screw in there.

I put nickels in all those cubbies every time someone asks what all those cubbies are for...I'll be retiring soon!

Sorry, OP, couldn't resist!
