Don't the '18s need a bypass module or harness?

You mentioned you were using an ELM327 over WiFi? I thought the AlfaOBD site said WiFi connections might be iffy

Ok, answered my own question today. I bought two Fobiks on Amazon for ~$36 (total). These are the Fobiks that also have the air suspension and remote start for my '16 Rebel. I went to my local dealer parts dept yesterday and they gave me my PIN no charge (after verifying ownership with my insurance card). I purchased AlfaOBD today, and used AlfaOBD to program the new Fobiks to the truck.

Under the RF Hub section in AlfaOBD, I used the "Program Ignition Fobiks Baseline System" function to program the keys. It prompts you for your key code PIN (4 digit), then you hit "Start", and insert the new Fobik in the ignition (leave off). I didn't have to turn on the Hazards like some Youtube videos show. AlfaOBD then says complete (or something like that...forgot). I even tried to reprogram a key (thought it didn't take), and AlfaOBD said "key already learned". Cool.
Noob question, what four digit pin...?

@prohunter The 4 digit pin is obtained from the dealer. It is a code needed for replacement/learning/flashing the RFhub.

Bypass harness is in place. I've read where others are using wifi without issues.. if that's the issue I dont understand why one app works 100% while alfaobd doesn't5c32ab3bc5fb1693874ba09169890b14.jpg

From the AlfaOBD website:

"An ebay interface based on an ELM327 clone might work fine if you are lucky. But there are lots of defective interfaces sold which can not establish connection to car ECUs under AlfaOBD. If, when connecting to a car ECU AlfaOBD displays a message "Interface reports NO DATA" or "Interface reports CAN ERROR", this is most probably a sign that you have one of these defective interfaces. If such an interface works OK with other OBDII diagnostic software it is because this software uses a different connection mode (standard OBDII/EOBD). "

I have had success with AlfaOBD using the BAFX ELM327 bluetooth interface, I think I paid about 20 bux on Amazon for it.

Was just getting ready to copy/paste the same. There have been a lot of issues with the ELM327 and connections. Most have been knockoff devices.

In addition to the post Ghost_Ram linked, I pasted below another post I did on this. Hope it helps:

There are 2 PIN codes for your truck. The pin code you want is only 4 digits and its not a rolling code. The other PIN code is 5 digits (one being a letter) and it is a rolling code. You do not want the rolling one.

Be prepared to maybe running into push back by service depts., many will not give you the code. They treat it as being owned by FCA. Usually have better luck at the parts counter in getting your PIN.

Anyone? I have the keys cut and I have the PIN, alfaOBD, and the OBDLinkMX, just want to be sure it's possible.

Previously posted that I tried to program a FOBIK with both my Autel scanner and alfaOBD with no luck. A couple weeks ago I programmed one of the plastic keys with the Autel and it worked fine.

Try going to the parts dept. They typically don't have any skin in the service game.....many are willing to help. Call them first and ask. My local dealer parts dept was really cool about it....even printed off a copy of the code for me (I brought a pen and paper just in case).

So I have an issue. I had tow mirrors originally...swapped them for 2014 sport mirrors. I was in alfa and saw tow mirrors, removed them in the settings. Now I have a P0070 ambient temperature fault. I went back and switched tow mirrors back, but code remains. any thoughts?

Clear the code, see if it comes back

code comes right back

When clearing the code, did you try through the Alfa app? I’ve found sometimes they can be a bit persistent. If after trying again, you might want to try the batter pull method.

Also, when you removed the tow mirrors setting, did you enable the folding mirrors a few spots above the tow mirrors setting?

I did enable them. I switched everything back to where it was. My temp on the radio is reading 54 degrees when actual temp is 33 degrees. I have tried clearing the code with 3 different devices now.

I as well am using the BAFX and have been doing fine with it. I used this for my Audi Q5 and the carista app for the vagcom system which was just (if not maybe more complicated). So far so good and worse case scenario I'll get the recommended one but so far no issues

Then if you’re sure you’ve switched everything back to the way it was a battery pull might be needed. Disconnect both negative and positive and let it sit for 20 minutes then reconnect. See if that does the trick for you.

If you’re not sure you’ve put everything back or not, compare your previous config.

When I used fcadiag app I noticed that some cel codes were stored in more than one module. Clearing one wasn't enough, the light wouldn't go off unless cleared from each module.

Maybe use alfaodb to check each module you can connect to for stored codes. Mirrors interact with the door and memory module if you have them
