I got a Trifecta tri fold tonneau for my 2018 Big Horn short box

Anyway that piece of plastic chit on top of the sides at the front of the box is creating a poor fit.

Has anyone dealt with this issue?

Can it be fastened down tighter?

Thanks
Rick

Well I did some adjusting and I have it 'OK' but not great!

With the Tonneau on and tailgate down you can see a little bit of daylight under the Trifecta weatherstripping and that plastic side rail cap.

I bought some foam weatherstipping and am gonna put a small piece beside the cap.

That should work.

Can you post a couple pictures of the gap and fit? I was thinking of getting the same cover.

the bed rail covers kinda stick up at the front like they need to be trimmed or something right?

I had the same issue with my gator trifold soft cover which is made in the same factory as the trifecta. I could not get it to sit tight at the front. The tighter i clamped it the more gap it made. I did have to trim the the bedrail cap as JB1 said above which helps a bit. I didnt want to dea with it anymore so i switched it out to a hard bifold flush mount and i couldnt be happier

I have not been in any rain or snow So this might not be an issue
Just one of those things that are obvious now but I overlooked when buying tonneau.

I just really like the Trifecta as it is very easy on and off as I do remove it to put my ATV in the box.

This is a pic from the outside, You can see the side rail cap and hoe it is preventing the weatherstripping on the tonneau from touching the bed.

I guess you could cut the side rail cap But I really do not want to be cutting my new truck!! LOL

Get some tape for bedding a cap (adhesive one side only). It'll likely take two layers to correct the elevation difference, but that will prevent the strip on the cover from being distorted.

I had the solid fold 2.0 on my 1500 and it never got water in the bed even though it looked just like your picture with the gap.

I wouldnt worry about it until you see water in the bed after a good storm then maybe add in some extra stripping. I cranked mine down pretty tight so never had any water in the bed from rain.

Yes I think the weatherstripping will work,

But I am gonna try to find a top rail protector for the front of the bed

I feel that would be the best

I just need to find a supplier here in Canada.

The link goes to a page that says front, but then it says that the part installs on the top of the tailgate. They might have the part there somewhere, but I didn't find it.

That part is for the part of the bed right behind the cab, not the tailgate.

When I went though the link. These Westin front cap protectors are not available for the 4th generation rams. I went to their website and doesn't list our truck for them. Thats too bad because I would like to get one to match up with the factory side bed rails

Read the description on the page for the part. It says what I said.

Do you think there's much difference in the generations. It looks to just be a piece of plastic c-channel that glues to the top edge of the bed and wraps around the inside and outside. For $30, it might be worth a try.

I don't think there would be much difference. Im gonna likely order one through amazon and if for any reason it doesn't work out I will return it.
