You can run starscan on your own laptop, just takes a special jumper wire and the starscan program can be had for about $600.. not to bad for the person who wants to poke around and turn toggles on and off. quiet handy to have actually

I'm trying to find where you can get it. a buddy of mine has it on his laptop and its what we used to do all the reprograming when I did a auto to manual swap on my 07 CTD Ram

I'm interested in this. Keep us updated. Might be a handy tool to have around.

I haven't talked to him in awhile but I'll see if I can get ahold of him and see where to get my hands on it and how his set up is... all I remember was he had a OBD2 jumper to a standard pin computer connector told me it was like $30-40 back in the day... and the program loaded to your laptop...

I'll see if I can get the details cause I'd like it myself.

I would simply use a test light and see which wire gets power when the high beams are activated whether it be at the headlights themselves or at the steering column. Then just wire your fog lights with that wire and ground to the chassis. This is the same technique used to install a reverse camera. It might take a while, but you know it was done right!

You may need to use a diode. You want the highs to turn on the fogs but not the other way around

I am sure it can be done and someone here knows how. I live in the woods and want my fog lights on with either low beam and or high beam. How do I do it? I love the factory button and eventually I will tie a light bar Into them to run off the same factory switch. I am not to great with electronics- so I really haven't played around with the fuse box to much to see if there is a relay, I imagine there is and I may just be able to jump a couple wires and make it work when ever I want. I googled the **** out of this and found nothing for 4th gens- All and any help appreciated.
All you need to do is activate it with the Alfaobd software

What OBD interface are you using?
It's all in the alpha OBD thread. Most of us us a (OBD Link MX). It's important you use a quality OBD connector. The program (alpha OBD) for the android version is on the Google play store for $49. They also have a windows version.

Is it easy to change the settings to turn the fog lights on while the high beams are on?

Yes it's very simple to use. There are also all kinds if other things you can enable with the tool. This is a picture of what it looks like when you open the app. If you go check out the alpha OBD thread it will give you step-by-step instructions how to enable your fog lights with high beams plus as I stated there's tons of other things you can do with this tool you can program pretty much any option you want into your truck.Screenshot_20181026-220145_AlfaOBD.jpeg
