Was previously looking at a RAM 1500 EcoDiesel, but it doesn't look like that option is coming anytime soon on the 5th Gen. Any feedback between the E-Torque and non E-Torque hemi?

I've had mine since September. Once the hemi broke in, I'm seeing about 16-18 mpg with mixed driving. I saw at least a 1mpg change after switching to full synthetic as well. I always run 89.

My wife has a 2016 BMW and it's start/stop is HORRIBLE. I mean so bad you have to turn it off and never use it because it feels like the car struggles to turn over. However, the etorque is so seamless that with the radio or AC on it is easy to forget it's working. Plus, if you are sitting for an extended period of time, it kicks back on to avoid killing the battery since the truck is off but still running everything.

Aside from the many other positives for the etorque system, the added 130 foot pounds of torque for those short spurts is really nice.

The only thing that worries me is the backorder on the boxes because of the demand/new technology so if it goes out you might be screwed for a while. I've got an extended warranty, but I would think replacing it would be at least $2000 to replace it (parts/labor).

Well, I have Hemi, bought 1 August, no E-torque. Just performs well since it does have a good history. Get 22 mpg (hand calc) on highway, so cannot complain. Coming from an ED, but I have had other Hemi's. So shall see. Cannot talk on E-torque, as I have never even seen one up close.

I've had my loaded Laramie (w/ hemi e torque) 2 weeks now and am pleased so far. My wifes MB has the stop/start feature and it drove me nuts...said I'd never have one till I drove the Ram. Have to say the start/stop at lights is hardly noticeable and really doesn't bother me. We'll see how that translates to better gas mileage....

My wife has a MB GLE 300d diesel with start stop and it drives us nuts. Surprised nobody has managed to hack the programming to disable it by default. I’ve heard amazing things about the E-Torque start stop though.

Works pretty flawlessly. The only time I disable it is when in stop-and-go traffic, because I think it does not really make sense to stop and start the engine every 15 seconds. On traffic lights or such it's ok, though. As mentioned, it does start the engine again after a while, mostly to maintain cabin temperature.

I have not driven a 19 hemi without the e-torque, but to me the additional torque is hardly noticeable.

I have the E-torque Hemi and at first I was skeptical if would like it, after 20 days of ownership, I do not mind it. It is very seamless, by the time you take your foot off the brake it is rolling and started by the time you can hit the gas pedal. As far as gas mileage? I am sure it helps, BUT I got the 3.92 gear for pulling so what I am getting average is 18.5mpg at best. I can not wait to see how it pulls my trailer!
