I got a CEL code this am. I run 5/30 PUP, 114000 miles.

I may have added a quart too much of oil since my oul filter is larger than OEM.

I added 7 qts initially, ran for a few hundred miles, checked dipstick, it was low so I added the extra 2 quarts to top off.

Other than that I've done nothing additional.

It's not running strange or anything.

There a way to get the CEL code withpwi the scanner?

Any auto parts store should be able to read the code for you. Lots of times they won't clear it but you can find the code and the general related systems that are throwing the code. Please post your findings.

I don't have a hemi but even with the larger filter 9 quarts seems like too much. Have you checked oil after adding this last 2 quarts?

I doubt that the 2 are related though. Good luck.

Buy a cheap $20 code reader off Amazon that connects to your smartphone with Bluetooth not wifi as those may have issues. It'll help you research issues prior to mechanics so you know if they know what they're talking about

Yeah 9 quarts is too much no matter if it caused the code or not.

I drained about a qt and a half and am at the low end of the oil spec on dip stick. I added about 8.5-9 originally - used a partial 5 qt bottle that was left over from wife's oil change and lost track of exactly how much I added, I also do not have a single level place on my property - so i drained it in the parking lot at my warehouse and checked. I am good now.

after draining I cleared code, drove for a few hundred miles and it came back on this morning.

I found my old BAFX bluetooth reader in my glove box, hooked it up and got P0153 - bank 2 #1, so i will get a new sensor and install and keep you all updated.

Is it worth going ahead and replacing bank 1 as well?

You should change both at that age, if bank2 is tired after 114k miles, chances are bank1 will be too :)
