The front Kicker 3 1/3" 43CC354 speakers are 3.2 ohm, is the 4 ohm 10w resistor in your write-up still going to be the correct solution if I go with these in the front and the 4 ohm Pioneers in the door and rears?

It should be fine. The resistor in my write up is 3.9 ohms. If you get that one and put it inline with those 3.2 ohm speakers you will have 7.1 ohms resistance. Not quite 8 but certainly better than 3.2. The idea is to limit the amount of current flowing to the 3.5" dash speakers so it doesn't overwhelm the front channel of your stereo. Even though it's not exactly 8 ohms, at 7.1 ohms it will still reduce the loudness of those speakers.

and I do have a Sony XAV-AX100 head unit if that makes a difference.

Okay, try as I might, I am not getting this.

Why would he need a 4 ohm resistor, for the 8ohm feed of an OEM head end unit, if hehas a SOny XAV-AX100 Head end unit and is not actually using the OEM Factory head end unit?

Yes, OEM wiring is front doors and dash in parallel , which will not change unless he runs new wiring, but if using this Sony Unit, should not be an issue with the dash speakers being too bright from the Ohms being supplied. Might be some brightness that we all get from the angle of the speaker into the windshield glass but not the supplied Ohms.

All his speakers are 4 ohm. Kicker 43csc6934 rear, kicker 43csc654 fronts and the dash.

What am I missing here?

There are quite a few other people in here asking questions so he might not have been replying directly to my situation in the 4 ohm discussion. My truck sounds amazing after swapping the 6.5's with the 6x9's...even with the new 3.5's up front.

Got it, I also found both 4.7 ohm and 5 ohm 10W resistors, should I go with one of them?

Yes, either one is closer to 8 ohms. I doubt you could tell the difference between them with your ears. I guess I'd go with the 4.7 ohm if both the 4.7 and 5 ohm are the same size, shape, and price.

I found some 4.7 ohm 10w resistors for a good deal but it was a package of 10. If anyone wants a pair just PM me and I'll ship them to you free. First sets, if they want them, can go to markusaf81 for all his work and PowrRam for all the tech info.:)

I know this is an older thread but I need some more please. I just got around to doing this change using the Kicker dash speakers and the Pioneer TS-G690's in the doors and rears of a regular cab. It sound pretty good but I'm just wondering if the is a way to get some extra thump / volume out of the rears for a reasonable price and not a lot of extra wiring? There's not much room behind the seat and not much $$$ in my wallet, lol. Maybe a different rear speaker or ??????

BTW thank you @PowrRam for the resistor trick. Crutchfield lists the Kickers as 4 ohm and Kicker lists them at 3.2 so I did the 4.7 ohm resistor like you suggested and it sounds really good but I'm going to double check with a 4 ohm resistor to see if there's a difference.

I threw one of these in and it’s been great so far, about 8 months now. I did kicker on all 6 with this and it was cheap and gave it the little pinch it needed and fit under the rear seat.

BOSS Audio is very cheap stuff. I think I saw a 2200 watt amp for $100 retail. I've never owned their stuff so I can't comment further, but you get what you pay for usually

I used a lot of their stuff and is really good very well made. I’ve never had any problems with them.
I was just curious what others thought about them.

I think you will find that people are crazy when it comes to audio, brand loyalty to the max. I’ve used several “cheap” brands over the years as well as “top” brands as well. These days I save the $$$ because like you I have had great luck with less expensive brands. These days with Amazon and how easy it is to return IMO it’s worth the risk.

Good Info here! I am revamping my whole interior and sound system- Hopefully all goes to plan...hahaha.
Alpine Sport Dash swap, then im throwing in a Pioneer DMH-1500 NEX Mechless HU.

The plan is to run 3 Kicker 46csc354 in the dash and use the stock alpine amp to run those. Pioneer TS-A692F 6x9 in the doors - Pioneer TS-A6970F behind the seat ( RC Truck) those will run off Pioneer GMD-9705 Amp, then 2 10" Kicker 44cwcs104 in a custom box with the Pioneer GMD-8601 mono block to pound those :)

Thats "the plan" i'm really hoping it sounds awesome!

How did that work out for you? I went in a one off direction as well. Using what I had and custom building fiberglass boxes for 2 x Rockford P3 subs off a p1000x1bdx amp. Infinity kappa perfect 6.5 2way for the front doors and infinity ref 2032 coax in the dash, with a audio control d4.800 amp for the front and the surround speakers remain pure OEM, the back doors have kicker KS 6x9s off the factory amp. The insanity of it all! You didn't have a dsp? Pac amp module, dsp, etc?

Someone mentioned brand loyalty with audiophiles. Ha, I respectfully disagree.
