9-1-1 phone system issues

Any one ever get this msg? Sometimes the radio, screen and hvac won’t turn on in the truck and I have to shut the whole truck down and restart to fix the issue. Just started happening, truck was left sitting for a week while I was on a trip. Was working perfect when I left. Thoughts?

Start with registering the vehicle with uconnect. I'm guessing your not using a cellular phone in the truck?

I am. I can use my phone through Bluetooth, listen to music, make calls, receive them, everything. When the screen and everything works. And everything is registered. I am the only owner of the truck. Bought it off the lot back in 2015.

Perfect.

Here are 3 possible fixes.

The shark fin antenna could be malfunctioning. Easy $40 fix

The modem "sprint phone" is defective usually location in the rear view mirror.

Or lastly your head unit is defective. Dealer fix

The fin was my first thought. Since it is intermittent, probably something lose. I didn’t know anything about the phone. And hopefully it’s not the unit!

No problem I didn't know it existed either but after researching I went into settings of the HU and the ESN settings are right there. I wonder if this HU is compatibile if I can just swap the modem to the 4G version

I experienced same message this morning. I’ve never seen it before. I do not have radio or HVAC problems you described either. Interestingly before driving this morning mine had been parked for 4 days. It appeared to resolve itself as I drove to work this morning and hasn’t reappeared...yet.

I had this on my 2013 Big Horn in 2014. Dealer replaced the head unit. Solved the problem.

I had the same problem in my 14 Laramie. I took it to the dealership and it needed an update. Apparently the process of updating these bricks some of them. I have the maxcare warranty, $100 deductible, so they ordered me a new radio. I drove home with two error messages cycling on screen, no audio/Bt/backup camera, and I had to guess what the climate control was doing.

those same error messages cycled when the truck was off, key removed, doors locked. It drained my battery overnight and I couldn’t start my truck without a jump. I took it back to the dealership and of course they didn’t have a loaner so I’m renting a car via the maxcare warranty.
