I got my cargo cam from infotainment, they sell a kit that comes with the harness and camera along with a obd genie to change the settings. Since I already had Alfaobd they removed the genie from the price and got a better deal on it.

Thanks I’ll have to look into this, did they knock off $200?

Was it the factory style LED cargo cam?

I don't think I've ever seen the OEM cargo cam on infotainment. With their prices and negative comments I've heard, infotainment will not get my business. I'd much rather piece together my parts from eBay or car-part and get any harnesses from M2Mods here.

Edit: Not to offend anyone who does and this is just my opinion. :)

I agree [emoji817]. All I’ve heard is problems after problems. At least with M2 they are both active on the forum and help anyway they can at anytime day or night lol

I agree 100%. I have to bite my tongue when they are mentioned or I will go off on a rant lol. I was just curious what camera they were selling. I knew there was an aftermarket third brake light camera out there but someone had mentioned that they got one and the camera doesn't show the same angle but who knows? I do know the factory LED third brake light camera is hard to find used.

While they have a video on YouTube which shows 2 options for a cargo camera (the OEM CHMSL camera and their setup which is the standard brake light with a camera they install), when I contacted infotainment several months ago the OEM option was (according to them) still being worked on and not ready. I believe that is still true today, no OEM CHMSL camera option. I wanted the OEM unit as well as the LED lights it has. So I got a new OEM from AllMopar and DeereGuy made me a custom harness. Lucky for me I got in as one of his first customers for this harness. Worked perfectly and not hard to install. From my experience, if you are thinking of doing the cargo camera I would get an OEM CHMSL camera and get DeereGuys harness.

I seriously considered the cargo cam, but then I realized my Extang eMax tonneau cover would block the camera when its in the full open position, making the cargo cam useless in my truck :(

I bought and installed this one. It has worked well for me. https://camera-source.com/catalog/p...MItbme58iV3wIVCdRkCh11XQyEEAQYASABEgKpcfD_BwE

I also was not impressed with Infotainment. Got the unit from them and it would not do everything I wanted and that I asked them about. Sent it back and got refund and bought the lockpick.

I haven't seen any side by side comparisons of the two but from experience with other cameras out there vs OEM, more times than none OEM has much better angles and cleaner images.

Edit: Which is why I would have loved to figure out how to take the mirroring of the OEM rev cam out of it to mount on the front.

That looks like a nice option as well. I got lucky when I got the factory camera. I was surprised how hard they are to find used.

The only part that sucks about the cargo camera for me is the fact I have a 14. I have to make sure I keep a certain software version on my truck or it won't function.

In for a write up on install though. I've seen the install posted in another thread but it wasn't very clear to me what you were having to do.
My truck is a 14 as well but my radio is out of a 2016 so the firmware in that radio still supports having the backup camera in the screen with the cargo cam option. I actually have the latest firmware update for it 17.43.01 but haven't installed it just in case but it should still be the same. I understand Chrysler had to fix there mistake for the trucks that came with the cargo cam option to be correct but that was actually a good mistake for a change!

I have a 2018 3500, if I have the Security Gateway Module Bypass from Infotainment (I bought and used for folding tow mirrors) before I saw any of this thread AlfaOBD, I have bought AlfaOBD and OBDLink MX, so my question is will the Security Gateway bypass from infotainment do the same thing as the bypass harness from DeereGuy? Not saying one is better than the other, just that I already spent $70 and if I don't need to spend another $50 for the same thing I'd rather not. I'm looking to add remote start to my truck and ordered the hood switch (want the safety feature).

Thanks,
Rick

We seem to be collecting new comers regularly now as word is getting out more and more. I hope it continues to grow and the developer takes notice through reviews left and will continue to make improvements on an extremely useful tool for us.

Yes! We need a legend as well! Something that puts these catagories into words everyone can understand.

Example it goes from vehconfig to CBC I/O changes. What exactly does CBC I/O stand for?

If this already exists someone link me. I'm telling you my a.d.d struggles with reading the opinions and such trying to find the exact how to's.

Another request would be if the moderators allow the ALFA team to make how-to threads and lock them. This way a member doesn't have to sort through 300 pages on answers or someone biting their head off for the search function.

Just my humble opinions.

That's interesting, when I was looking a folding mirror upgrades I asked them if they would leave out the genie from their kit and they said they would not. Maybe it just depends on who you talk too.

Same here, 2016 with 2017 radio, but still at firmware 17.09 due to 17.43 breaking cargo cam. Although, honestly I doubt I will ever buy a cargo cam, have a hard tonneau now and only reason I would change it would be to a camper shell setup, so it's really not needed for me.

Just to be DA :), I bought my 8.4 kit from them, and while expensive (although with trade in and Military discount it quite a bit less than listed price) I didn't have any issues. In fact I had a warranty issue with the HU (touch screen was kinda wonky) and had a replacement unit in 2 days no fuss.

That being said, there are so many good deals on 8.4's out there now it seems, I likely would not do it again considering the cost, and would piece it together as @Ghost_RAM suggested.

Must be who you talk to at Infotainment. I spoke with John and he was totally adamant in saying,
"We don't split kits up, no you can not buy a $$$ UAQ radio without the media hub".

So needless to say M2Mods gets my money every time now!!!!!!

My total UAQ install including audio controls, bezel, harness, module and radio is $825

Yip that looks like the factory light. That harness and all the connectors is crazy! The harness I got from Deer Guy literally has 5 wires that need to be pinned and that's it, three for the radio connector and two to go into the power source on left side C pillar. Of course not sure how their system actually works. I generally stay away from their products.
