I've had the best luck with either Amsoil or M1 filters. Haven't tried the RP filters so can't comment on them. So far mine is running great on 5/20 SS, just ordered more this morning for the wife's van and it will be here tomorrow. Amsoil has also came out with a synthetic media filter for the 3.6 so it's on its way also.

If it walks like a duck..... So I'm sure we can easily say Amsoil EA and RP are really the same thing. But great info on that, probably should be in the oil filter thread of not having a post of it's own. Do you have the part number for the new Amsoil EA filter? Is it the same engine as the Ram, or does she own a ram?

EA15K19-EA is the new filter for the 3.6. Hers is a Dodge grand caravan so I "think" it's the same 3.6.

Yeah I verified, good info. EA15k19 is the correct part number for the ram 3.6 according to Amsoil's website.

Yup, hard to follow this. Lol. Wondering if you have a block heater and if not, would it help your noise, if it developed in the cold weather ?

I have one of those at home I'll take a pic of it later. Looks like a good filter for the 3.6

Both the Amsoil and RP filters are made by Champ Labs and are basically identical. I've heard reps say one is better than the other, but if you tear them down... identical build quality and materials. I would run whatever one you can get cheaper since we're talking about maybe a percentage point or two in efficiency difference either way.

I switched from the fram ultra synthetic so long ago i dont honestly remember if it did it with that filter or not. But a few bad experiences with that filter made me switch.

So what happened, specifically? I started running that filter at my last OCI...no issues after 5K miles.

One of them had significant rust on the inter-tube.

Another came with a bunch of dirt/debris inside the filter as well as strings of glue on the top plate.

Both filters ordered from Amazon. Currently I’m still ordering filters from Amazon but they have been the royal purple 20-820 and there has been no issues. Whether it’s the truth or not I blame it on Fram.

Understood and I don't blame ya! Unless I notice otherwise, I'll likely stick to the Fram/QSUD combo I'm running now due to convenience and cost.

Some filters such as the SRT and Amsoil come wrapped in plastic which is nice because it keeps dirt out of the filter. I would get the Amsoil filter for my truck but the Amsoil EaO11 has 6 inlet holes as opposed to the 8 on the RP 20-820. Both filters inlet holes are approximately the same size. Probably splitting hairs with that because I'm sure the media is the biggest restriction.

Personally I'd rather support Amsoil over RP, but so far I haven't seen a better filter for the price than the RP 20-820.

No sir.

That is the larger one

OEM is 10-48

I just changed from PP to PUP and with the RP 10-48 filter. It is twice the size of the little OEM mopar filter.

Not only does my throttle response seem to feel better, but my oil temps went from 220 to 212 and my oil pressure is a lot better. My startups are smoother and I lost the sewing machine noise coming from the lifters.

I'm sold on the royal purple filter (not their oil).

Filter choice can matter in these, same thing I had my truck tick on one filter and not the RP filter, even with redline in the sump. Yes, the tick/knock wasn't as bad as pre-redline, but when you get used to a quiet engine I don't care who you are it will bother you when you don't have it back, period end of story. I'm stuck in 5w30 redline RP filter hell, because deviating from this will create a knock in my engine.

AFAIK the RP 10-48 is the same size as the Mopar filter, unless your truck had the wrong Mopar filter.

The 20-820 filter is the larger one.

I can confirm that the OEM mopar filter that came on my Gen 5 (and the one replaced by first dealership oil change) is significantly smaller than the RP 10-48 I just put on. They may have compatible threads, but that RP filter is significantly larger. Definitely not "the same size". It may be anecdotal, but after seeing the difference in the numbers, that OEM filter was a bottleneck for oil PSI and temps in my truck.

I had not even realized you have a 2019! Sorry about that.
