I bought my 2500 CTD on Nov 21st with 500 miles on it (had to be driven here from another state so I could buy it). When I picked it up I was a bit surprised at how quiet it was from within the cab. I've got around 2300 miles on it now and towed a 7'x14' box trailer (approx 3500lb) for a couple hundred miles today. I had the stereo turned up most of the way but as I approached my destination I turned it down and noticed that the engine seems to have gotten louder. I'm not complaining, just curious if this is to be expected and is due to the exhaust settling in, the engine settling in or something else? I heard the turbo whistle a time or two while climbing some of the hills here in norther Kentucky, that didn't put a frown on my face.

I'm not worried that something is wrong, just curious more than anything. I averaged 10.7mpg on the way down here with a 14mph head wind. I'm thrilled with how this beast is running.

I don't remember hearing any difference in sound on mine? Still seems about the same as when I drove it off the lot. Obviously if I am going up a steep grade or pulling a heavy load it's working a little harder and may sound different.

Full disclosure, according to my wife I'm getting pretty deaf these days. Lol.

I have noticed a slight difference in sound if it goes into a regen on mine.. Slight, but noticeable.

Made the return trip today. This was the first time I've gotten out on the highway towing with the new truck and I'm very pleased. Averaged 11.2mpg (according to truck, I didn't hand calculate) and a fair bit of that was running 75mph+. Southern IN & northern KY have some decent grades and the truck walked up them without shifting or losing more than a few mph. Loving this CTD like I knew I would.

As my 6.7's broke in, they all got a touch louder, still way quieter than my 5.9's, but a touch louder none the less.
