HA! Didn't know that.... that's crazy though. Then again, it is ChryCo that I'm talking about.

Yep. Yet another reason why I call 98 the ******* Year. A lot of annoying little **** that wasn't changed yet for 98.

Yeah, nothing new. ******* year for the Cherokee was '96. Was still the original body style, but changed over to OBDII that year AND had a mix of 97 parts in with 95 parts. Never knew which parts you were going to get either. All just depended on what they ran out of and when.

Should've just done what they did with the Wrangler and NOT MAKE ONE for the '96 model year. Not like they didn't have the Grand Cherokee to keep them afloat in the meantime.

Today I figured out on my 1996 ram 2500 cummins truck if your ac compressor bearing is squealing you can bypass the ac unit by installing a non ac serpentine belt routed correctly by diagram under the hood and zero other modifications be back up and running in about ten minutes. I had read on other forums for gen 3 trucks you have to change tensioner pulley mount location to make non ac belt work , which may be true, and couldn't find any info on if a gen 2 had to be changed that way to, but for you guys looking for this info on a 12 valve gen 2 cummins truck if you need to bypass your ac unit you can go to the parts store, by a stock non ac serpentine belt and routed correctly not have to move tensioner pulley or arm mount location, put it on and bypass the ac pump, I did it today , belt fits perfectly with no touching or rubbing on anything that can hurt the belt. Hopefully this info can help someone, I looked all over the internet and couldn't find it for a gen 2 diesel truck

I have a 1998 1500 sport 4wd. Will a caliper from a 2500 of the same year fit on it? When I replace the brakes next I will be getting much better pads and sloted rotors but I want the stopping power to be much better. Anything to get better stopping power.

From everything I've been able to tell, 94-8 2500LD 7500GVWR calipers will bolt up. MUST make sure they're for a Dana 44 axle tho.

Is the bolt pattern on the rotor the same as well? My rotors need to be replaced so I thought about getting a performance caliper rotor and pad kit for the front for a 2500 and putting it on my 1500.

This one is more of a late update. Sunday changed the oil, pulled the AC Compressor off (didn't work anyway), shot some di-electric grease in the connector for the Engine Temp sensor, and pulled the Intake Air Temp sensor for cleaning. I didn't even think about cleaning it after I did the plenum plate and gasket. The truck now runs super smooth. It's amazing how overlooking one thing can cause a vehicle to lug from a dead stop and cause idle issues. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to start recommending people clean those when they do the plenum repair.

Where on the manifold is the intake air temp sensor?

I believe it's on the passenger side towards the front of the motor, if I remember correctly you have to remove the filter box off the top of the throttle body to get to it.

Don't have to that i know of, but it's been so long since I've had the stock intake on I don't remember.

Got some Rockford Fosgate 6.5s for my doors. A friend of mine bought them for me. Got adapters for the 6x9-6.5 swap coming. Merry Christmas to me.

You kinda do, the filter housing on the Ram's puts the filter towards the front of the plenum. It crossed my mind once to do a custom job on the filter for these trucks. The only benefit I could see from it is filter accessibility as it's a giant PITA to replace the filter and put the box back on these throttle bodys.

I couldn't justify the expense for something as trivial as "Up to 5HP gains" and ease of access.

Make your own like I did. lol
Most expensive part is buying a filter. Dakota/Durango air hat and PCV pipe and couplers.

Sitting here still waiting on my speaker adapters. 19th can't get here soon enough.

I keep hearing about people going with 6.5's in lieu of the 6x9s... what's your reasoning on it? My setup is RF 6x9's up front and I'm going to do RF 6.5's in the rear doors.

Yup.... did this in my '03 Dakota. Only had the 3.9 in it, but it gave it a little more grunt for sure. Louder too....

Mounted my CB antenna and ForeverWave flag kit on it. Don't have any RG58 on hand so I haven't put the CB in yet. Probably after the first of the year, hopefully.

Cheaper. More options. Don't distort at high volumes as bad. Better overall clarity.
I've got my adapters, just need to get my hands on a Dremel to ream them out to with the Fosgates. :laughing1:

Hmm... alright. Haven't noticed any distortion with mine. Guess it depends on what you mean by "higher volume" I guess. Volume is pretty subjective...
