Mpgrimm2,

My truck is a Canadian 2015 Ram 1500 Quad Cab Sport imported in to the U.S. It came with the RA3 8.4 (no Nav). 6 speaker sound system. The radio I put in is a 8.4 4C UAQ radio with CarPlay etc from Infotainment.com. The info off the radio is:

HARDWARE PN CNSC27N5FL
SOFTWARE VERSION 18.20.2e
APPLICATION VERSION USA-IR-21.9.0-20180516-109V
BOOT MICRO 18.10.01
SERIAL NUMBER T M9234801884

Did you install the ATC Temp sensor & wiring or just change the BCM settings.

M² Mods.
I just updated the bcm. I still need the temp sensor and your cable to make it work in auto.

Climate Control module is Part #P68366553AA

Here's the radio info:

v18.14 and 19.9 work well. v21.9 & 22.5 are the ones with audio EQ problems.

14ram1500, 18 UAQ, Single Zone MTC, (issues w/ xxxx8186 & 2018 68366552AA module)

My current solution is I changed the BCM to Single Zone ATC and the sliders/buttons function properly. I don't have the temperature sensor and humidity sensor, but it will be my next mod after the holidays.

8Banger,

Did you try going back to MTC to see if the slider stays working correctly? Any adverse affects from leaving it in single zone ATC?

I installed the new HVAC module yesterday. I unplugged the battery twice even. Had the screen reset to missing the SXM both times the key was cycled. When using the software climate controls the slider still bounces around a bit. It does seem like it takes less presses (after screen says maxed out) to get to full heat or cold in the software button and hardware button. I did watch the damper motor move up and down while my brother pressed the buttons. So pretty much no change for me.

I bought the alpha OBD software last night and got it installed on my Fire HD8. Did not have time to do much with it. Is there an option to run a calibration check with this software? I read a post in this thread about that (which it didn't help), but haven’t been able to find it in the Alpha OBD.

Yes, the actuator calibration is under the "climate control module".

Update.

I did do the actuator calibration. Had to find it under model year 10-12 or something like that. I did it a few days ago, so forget what it said. Either way there wasn't an option in the software for 2013-18 etc etc.

It did help after calibrating. But not much. With the new module in place and before calibrating it, the HVAC slider was real jumpy (more than old module). The new module after calibration, made it just a tad better than how it originally was. The wife was pushing me for family Xmas time lol, so I didn't get to screw with it a lot. I had my brother run the software HVAC controls while I watched the actuator. It did appear it took less software button clicks after full heat/cold (on the screen) to get the actuator to max it's travel. Compared to the old HVAC module.

I ordered up off of ebay a temp sensor and humidity sensor which should be here next week sometime. Hopefully M2 Mods will open up their waiting list sometime soon after the new year for the single zone ATC wiring harness. As that seems to fix it for people.

Interesting. I saw no change when running the calibration, it would pass successfully every time, and I could watch the temperature blend door actuator spanning the full range. I used the option under the settings in the attached pic, using "MY>12".

One thought is to push on @Infotainment.com to provide the solution. They're not bad folks, just released a product without fully realizing the bugs. These issues that don't impact every truck consistently are the tough ones. They use to sell an ATC upgraded using their OBD Genie, so they're familiar with the conversion. As far as I know, they're still shipping with the wrong HVAC module ( unacceptable, as this is well documented), so a person is out another ~$300 to buy an HVAC module, wiring harness, temp sensor, and humidity sensor to make the fix. Toss in another $130 if you need to by alpha and a dongle. They can add all this functionality to their kit for less then $50 ( no price difference in the module, genie (if needed) should cost next to nothing ( those things are pure margin for them), just add the provisions to their harness and a couple sensors). I've had email exchanges with them regarding the solution, but did not push for any reimbursement as they were kind enough to upgrade me from a UAS to a new ( they typically sell refurbished) UAQ because they were behind on shipments. Seemd like a fair enough trade? I'll call them tomorrow to see what they're doing for their other customers now that we have multiple customers with the same problem, and a fix.55b572199bbd135b8ed7843a56cae36c.jpg

Curious if any of the seasoned technical folks on this forum have can sniffing and analyzing abilities? I'm very curious what the data stream looks like when controlling temperature using single zone MTC as compared to using single zone ATC in manual mode.

I wouldn't commit to anyone calling the use of the 18 HVAC modules a fix for the UAx radio/HVAC blend door issue since nothing is consistent yet other than maybe activating single zone ATC. There are a few folks with 13-17 HVAC modules running fine with the UAx upgrade, idk why?

Not sure if AlfaOBD would correct it off there was a calibration option for 13-18 trucks vs 10-12.?

You're correct, I wasn't attempting to call the '18 module a fix. It appears folks are having better success with it as compared to the version being shipped with their kits.....though I hate making statemens like that without more data by points.

ckleinfeld,

I have talked to infotainment and they said they were aware of it. That’s all I got from them.

In your pic I did not use the can blue adapter cable. I used Bluetooth with android. I assumed the cable in pic was a typo or for a different option (windows computers).

It's not needed if you're using the Obdlink MX. If I understand correctly, it is needed with other OBD adapters.

Another data point from Goofy...

2015 ram 1500 with factory dual zone ATC and 13-17 HVAC module...
Just wanted to report that I installed a brand new 2018 UAQ in my 2015 Big Horn with Dual Zone auto Climate about a month ago, I finally got a chance to check on my climate control mixer. My truck does not need the 2018 climate control module, when the temperature is set at 70 and the ambient temperature is about 40 degrees, the mixer door goes all the way up to give me full heat, and if i force the temperature down to "LO" it goes down to full cold. That being said I'm gonna have a brand new in box 2018 Climate control module up for sale very soon once i get some pics.

Yea using my plastic pry tool helped a bunch, here's the part number:

Also it's Revision A

I installed the (SZATC ) single zone ATC harness from M2 Mods today. Ran the software programing & my temp control appears to be as it should. Seems to have fixed my issue, as others have had.

One thing I noticed is that my outside temp was 22* and truck somewhat cold as I just started it up a few minutes prior to screwing around with the ATC controls on the radio. Is that 65* setting moved the blend door slider just slightly less from max heat. 60* moved it just a hair more. pressing the cold button to put the temp control to LO brought full cold. I'm guessing since the temp in the truck was pretty cold still there wasn't much need for the blend door to move much. Something I'll keep my eye on, at least more out of curiosity of how it functions.

I put the humidity sensor in the stock location & 3M taped it in place along with the cover for it so it should get air flow across it as it normally would.

So, I did the upgrade with the 2018 UAS 8.4" non nav radio in my 2018 Express Regular Cab. Got the harness from Mike and the new single zone control unit, with the 2018 module from the same donor truck. Everything works well except the temp not getting back to cold when dialed down. Heat is no problem, but I don't have the temp readout on the slider like I've seen in previous posts.

If I'm reading all the posts correctly...In order to fix this issue I need to

1. Purchase and install the temp and humidity sensors,
2. Purchase the Alpha OBD software and bluetooth OBD connector, also
3. Get the 2018 security interface cable in order to bypass the increased security on my 2018MY to work the Alpha software.
4. Then go through the procedures listed above to set it to dual, the back to single. Have I got that right?

Thanks for the info and everyone's help with the testing and diagnosis.

Okay to start off did you purchase the ATC pigtail to be added in when you got your conversion harness made from M2. If you did. Great. If you didn’t you will have to get the Temp sensor harness(ATC add on) from M2 and the humidity sensor harness also(guessing on the humid sensor harness because having a express you don’t have the oem harness running to the mirror that has the connection for the auto dim mirror/ATC etc.).

You will need the temp and humidity sensors

Might be easier seeing if someone on this forum is close to you with the security bypass harness and AlfaODB. If you are not planning on doing any more mods. If you plan to do mods in the future I would suggest you get the security bypass harness and Alfa with the MXOBD connector.
