2018 Lone Star Crew Cab
Well I got up early this morning and installed my new Carven Progressive muffler on my 2018 ram. Took it out for a long run to test it at different speeds and different rpm ranges. I’m glad to report that there is no drone in the cab at any of the speeds or RPM ranges that I tried. I do love the sound. They hemi sounds like a big bear ready to eat you when you step on it. But at idle still sounds like the OEM muffler. I am very happy with this muffler and the ease of installation.
Probably why... I lived sound from outside but inside cab i felt like my ears were going to start bleedingCrew cab models have a "mass damper" weight that seems to be fastened onto/with the left rear most cab body bolt. I wonder if that helps with the drone?
Also curious why the quad cabs *dont* get that damper. Seems like it could only help no matter what the cab size is.
wonder if thats why no drone? i have quad cab and it was HORRIBLE!
I have a crew cab and there is def drone at 1400-1600 RPMs. Some people dont mind it, but it's annoying enough to me that I am removing my Carven Progressive. Didnt even have 250 miles on it.
Bummer man... Sorry to hear that. Is it sold already?I have a crew cab and there is def drone at 1400-1600 RPMs. Some people dont mind it, but it's annoying enough to me that I am removing my Carven Progressive. Didnt even have 250 miles on it.
One of the biggest differences I found in the sound of my exhaust was when I installed the 5" tips. The sound became a lot deeper and mellower(sp). I have a Magnaflow 22".

Great job!

Installed headlight revolution 1000 lumen reverse led bulb on my 16 Rebel. Now I can see much better in the backup cam.
The I finally made the switch to Redline 5w30. (Was running PUP 5w20 for the 40k life of the truck)
Also spent an obnoxious amount of time reading reviews and topics here on Vararam Air Grabber vs S&B intakes. Like the look of Vararam but I live outside Chicago and the truck is my daily driver. I also work in healthcare and am on call 1/3 of the month and have to drive in any and all weather at all times of day. Therefore I’ve been researching how some have no issues with the Vararam in snow and a few have had some issues.... Love the internet for the ability to research these things but I almost am ocd about it. Lol
