I disabled the auto lock on our 18, it sleeps in the garage every night unlocked with the fob in it. Hasn’t auto locked it’s self once. I have a hide a key somewhere on the truck” I would have to look at my pictures to remember where I hid it” lol. Took me a good 30 mins to find it on my 14 Ram 2500 when I was trading it in... “ Why I took a picture this time”

Don't put your spare key under the hood like my boss did. I didn't have the heart to tell him. I just chuckled a little every time I saw him get in his truck. He wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer to begin with. LOL

My 2019 Longhorn came with 2 fobs, 2 simple keys and the two emergency keys in the fobs. It will not let you lock the doors if there is a fob inside the cab (in theory), assuming the battery is good in the fob. I had a plain metal key made, hid it on the truck and left the spare fob in the truck, but had to place it in a solid brass cylinder to prevent the radio waves from leaking out. If I open the door using any key the alarm sounds and I have to retrieve my spare fob to disarm the alarm. This racket is my disincentive against just using the hidden key out of laziness. It is noteworthy that the battery in the protected fob should last for far longer than the advertized 3 years, since it is not communicating with the truck.

I haven't noticed this happening with my truck, but my wifes 2015 Journey will relock the doors if you unlock them with a key fob and don't start the car within 5 minutes. According to the dealership its supposed to be a security thing in case you accidentally hit the button in your pocket. That being said, her car will also unlock itself if it senses one of the key fobs inside the car. I haven't noticed any of this with my truck, but I might do some testing when I get home and have both key fobs.

On my 2018 there is a key in the fob that ACE hardware copied for me and I used electrical tape to wrap it to the nerf bracket so I can get into the truck where my spare fob is hid.

This. I keep the spare key in my wallet.

My Tradesman (2018) won’t do anything unless I do it myself. Manual windows and doors are the answer my friend. Happy New Year to all.

I have a 2007 Ram with manual locks and windows. I can't say that I hated the manual windows and locks, but its a hell of a lot easier to roll down all of the windows and unlock all of the doors on my 2015 at the push of a button! I'm sure I will wish my 2015 had the manual windows/locks as soon as one of the motors go out and I have to pay to replace it!

Back in the mid 1970's I locked my keys in my Dodge Van, fortunately my wife had my spare set, but she had to make a long trip into town. As soon as I retrieved my set of keys, I had a second key made for the door/ignition key, Since that day I have always carried a spare key in my jeans pocket.
My current Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab has an alarm/remote start system that has passive door locks, which means once all the doors are shut, the alarm sets and all doors are locked. This happens no matter whether the key is in the ignition lock, laying inside or outside the truck. The only time they don't all lock is if the ignition switch is in the run position. I really must keep up with my keys, but should I make a mistake, I still have my spare door key in my pocket.

You can lock the doors with a Fob inside, we do it all the time, my wife does it on accident “ So she says” but maybe it is the same circumstance others have mentioned.

Locked out of my 2015 one time at the car wash. Key fob in switch and on accident I locked the doors with an armrest switch while vacuuming the truck. Had to get a friend to take me home to get the spare fob.

I have locked the truck with the fob in my front pants pocket. The open & close buttons are just pronounced enough to be triggered against the door threshold when leaning into the vehicle to get something in the middle. I have started putting the fob in buttons inward towards my leg.
