DG7 is the 6.7 cummins with the 68RFE transmission.

The 68RFE is fine as long as you leave the truck stock. Its the guys that tune and add horsepower that start having issues with it.

.

Ok it make sense i was nervous to bought one with that tranny
Thanks

Just don't neglect to service your 68RFE with mopar filters & fresh ATF+4 fluid.

Drive like a civilized human being & it will not let you down.

Also Look Into - Installing one of these!
It will drop your transmission temps down at least 30*F.

Especially if you plan on towing med to heavy loads - Lower transmission fluid temps are Always a positive for longer transmission life.

And with some simple mods the 68RFE does just fine with a mod or two added to the Cummins.

Don't forget that means you have the low hp cummins (800ftlbs) not the high out put (930ftlbs).

Not sure where to put this...
I have a 2018 Ram 2500 w/Cummins and 68RFE. On Saturday, out of the blue, while slowing down when it shifts down to 4th there's a distinct clunk and the truck lurches.

It never did this before and everything else seems fine with the transmission, it's just that one downshift into 4th. 23,000 miles on the odometer. The most I tow is a 6000 lb trailer. The truck isn't abused.

Has anyone experienced a similar symptom? Not having a lot of trust in dealership techs, I was hoping someone could provide a little insight before I take it in for warranty work.

Never had that happen before and haven't heard of anyone else experiencing it either? I'd just keep driving it and see if it happens again. The only thing I've had go wrong with mine was a failed shift solenoid (which ended up becoming a recall later on) but that was fixed prior to 2018 models.

Thanx for the response. I thought it might be something in the ECU so I disconnected the batteries for a while... no love, still does it.

Hi half_crazy,

Thank you for the heads up. Did you get a chance to take your Ram to your local certified FCA dealer? If so, feel free to send us a private message as we would be happy to provide an additional layer of assistance during this process.

The re-flashed it and it seems fine. Actually, it's better than the flash that came in it. Trans seems more precise/less sloppy.
