Hi All,
I leveled my 2017 4x4 using the adjustable Bilstein 5100 in the front and non-adjustable in the back and switched to 275/65R20 KO2s. I love the height, but I think I want to get a bit of the rake back. I really don’t want to adjust down the front, so I’m wondering if the easiest answer is to add a set of adjustable 5100s to the back and adjust up an inch or so.

Thoughts?

Maybe someone else can chime in but seems like I read where someone added some stiffer springs in the rear to handle weight better while towing and it gave them a slight lift in the process. Would make sense that the truck wouldn’t squat as much with stiffer springs unless they are made shorter to compensate.

You can read on the heavy duty springs and find info pretty easily

I think those were the Icon rear springs. I don’t think you can add 5100’s in the rear because they are a coil over and the rears use a separate coil and shock. So you’d either need a spacer or larger coil to raise the rear a little more.

The icon rear springs may be a good way to go. They say they offer 1.5” of lift but I’ve heard it can be a little less once it settles.

There are no Bil 5100’s to add to the rear ... Go to Hell Bent Steel or Top Gun Customz for a rear spacer of your choice

Definitely no to the 5100 in the rear. Gonna have to change something with the spring for sure. Always more than one way to accomplish things.

Of course there are 5100s for the rear, but they are normal shocks, not adjustable height struts which is what you use in the front from the same shock family. that means the height is provided by coil springs or spacers. Hodge is trying out the new Bistein rear springs that are supposed to provide 1” of lift in the back, Icon is around 1.5”, eibach has 1” springs too. All support more weight than the stockers and are longer than stock. You can use spacers, but the factory springs can barely support themselves, springs are not super expensive unless you really can’t afford them.

Thanks for the clarifications. I know they installed 5100s on the rear but like you said they are not adjustable. Sounds like springs are the way to go. Price isn’t the top concern, I mostly want to make sure it still rides good. 1” - 1.5” sounds like what I’m looking for.

I’ll do a bit of research on the ones you’ve mentioned and report back once I pull the trigger.

Thanks again!

There’s a guy selling brand new Icon rear coil springs for the rear in the For Sale section of the forum.

I was in the same situation as you and installed the Timber Grove airbags. Works great and I can adjust them for any height I like and have the added benefit of leveling it when I tow
