Running boards

So I went to buy some running boards off a guy and when we went to make sure they fit there is a bracket located just under the driver side door only that’s obstructing the install. The hangers and holes match up perfectly except for that bracket getting in the way. We looked at his truck and these brackets are not there. Btw his was 2010 mine is 17.

I had a bracket on my ‘15 Sport on driverside only by the first hole towards the tire. The bracket is used for an option I didn’t have. Don recall if I cut it off or just made the steps work with some persuasion.

I just went through the same thing with my 2016, I read that the bracket was placed on the drivers side after 2014 to get better crash ratings, stops wheel components from going up into the floor in a crash.My friend also has a 2016 but his is v-6, he does not have the bracket, so who knows. The shop I had install my step boards removed the bracket to access those holes. They also zip tied that cable up after removing the bracket.

I think I just persuaded it on there. But the bracket I definitely recall. I remember reading others having the same issue when I google searched the issue.

I’ve never specifically looked under there, but I’ve been looking for factory black running boards. I’ve noticed that my 2017 only has 2 brackets holding the factory running boards on and earlier models have 3 brackets.
