Just bought a 2019 Ram Lonestar (Classic). I noticed that there are two full spots on the passenger side doors. This may not be a Ram specific issue but I figured someone could tell me what they are and how to fix it. It's very hard to see normally but when the sun hits it it becomes very visible. Its smooth to the touch too. 20190115_153812.jpg 20190115_174123.jpg

Try a claybar kit (Autozone, Walmart should have them).

The kit should have clay and a lube spray. Soak the area with lube spray then lightly drag the clay over the surface to see if it makes the "stuff" go away.

You said its smooth, my guess is it might just be some junk the dealer put on the truck, or maybe even the wheels and tires because it kind of looks oily, like a tire treatment.

If you still cant get it off, its possible its under the clearcoat, but I think the above will fix it.

If claybar doesn't work, try a mild compound &/or polish. Megs Ultimate Compound or Polish would be something OTC to try.

If you try the clay bar be sure to put a coat of wax over the spot that you clay bared because the clay bar i going to strip any and all wax or sealant off

I'd do like suggested above or visit a good detail shop to see what they would suggest. Last resort would be a dealer fix. I just hate aftermarket paint/body work. It's not the same as factory.

Had that on my '13 and have a small spot like that on the bed of my '18. It's a burn mark from buffing it at the factory. Claybar and then go over it with a swirl reducer with an orbital if possible. Will take it right out.

I went a little more and wet sanded the one on my bed with 3000 grit sandpaper and then buffed it out with compound and then swirl reducer. Never know anything was ever there.

Always try the LEAST abrasive solution first. If you don't have any experience color sanding you might leave that to a professional.

A guy with a wheel and rubbing compound that knows what he's doing can get rid of that in 5 minutes. A guy that doesn't know what he's doing can ruin your paint and should never be allowed near your truck!

I wouldnt put coumpond anywhere near it. Least agressive first. And even if it needs polishing to remove it, I would start with a finishing polish and finishing pad. If that doesnt work, stick with finishing polish but a slightly more aggressive pad.
