i have heard of this before this thread. my main point and concern is more associated with a (potentially) ram dealer selling a ram with this stipulation amd not disclosing it to the customer. if the dealer told them amd they decided to purchase it anyway , its on the customer. i dont get that from the op. i guess more info is needed (or i missed it).

Sorry no it was not a Ram dealer that i purchased it from. I was not specifically told one way or the other on if it had a warranty I pulled the trigger a bit to hastily it seems.

x2 most states require some sort of warranty minimum by a dealer (new or used).

Another option. Tow it up to Canada... But from CA that may not be financially worth it.

Unfortunately Nevada is not one of them depending on the deal. Once you sign on the dotted line you own it, no cooling off period, no warranty or exchange unless written in the contract. The only exceptions are if financing falls through or if somehow you can prove the dealer knowingly violated state law concerning some aspect of the sale of the vehicle. I had a similar situation where I was sold an F150 with a failing valve train, I reported the dealer for violating NRS 482.36661. Of course after the DMV did their "investigation" they found no wrong doing. However search for NRS chapter 482 online and the result will take you to all of the 482 statutes, may be worth a look to find some type of relief of paying all of that out.

This among other things is another fine reason to never even consider buying a Canadian truck.

Yes Canadian trucks sold in the US have no warranty of any kind.

Not sure if you are a Canadian who bought a Canadian truck and break down while traveling in the US what the warranty coverage is. I would assume it would be covered - but you might have to pay and then get reimbursed by FCA Canada, if they cannot do it internally.

Did he check his paperwork to see if it discloses that it is a Canadian import truck and has no warranty???
If he not, he might have a case for failing to disclose that fact - to me it is fraud as you are portraying the vehicle to be a US vehicle when it is not.

So if it is a Canadian truck and has no warranty in the US could you take it to a Canadian dealer for warranty repairs?

I would assume so. But being that he is in CA, towing the truck up there for warranty work would cost more than the repair...

no i asked ram about that they said once its imported into another country without the proper paper work (letter of compliance) the warranty is void in both places. Also found out that even if i had the letter of compliance only certain warrantys will transfer. I managed to track down that letter of compliance they asked for only for them to turn around and say well my warranty is a 5/10 we only will transfer a 5/9/5 warranty .. so was SOL from the start it would seem... however the bank is getting on me about not getting the title as i cant register the truck a new title wont be issued .... so.. financing may do something about it who knows.

Im sure id loose something but not much i can do about it at the moment its either the bank gets fed up waiting on the title and the deal gets reversed or the place i bought it helps with the repairs. Worst case the bank pays the repairs and adds it to my loan. which i have heard of that happening but thats normally after the repairs are done and the person doesn't pay the mechanic technically the bank owns it so they are responsible for repairs they can choose to pay it or not.

I'm wondering it is not possible to buy a 3rd party warranty and cover your costs as much as possible?

Ok, I cannot speak to your warranty problem; however, I can tell you how to operate the truck on a public roadway or off-street parking in California without receiving a ticket. Any vehicle brought into CA that is a permanent transfer is required to be registered within 20 days, CVC 4152.5. Any vehicle found on the roadway expired in excess of 6 months can be impounded CVC 22651(O). All vehicles operating on a roadway in CA are required to have proof of current registration, CVC 4000(a). Since you cannot pass SMOG to complete the registration of your vehicle, you can request a 30-day Temporary Operating Permit from the CA DMV pursuant to CVC 4156. This will allow you to operate the truck on a roadway so you can have it worked on if you go that route. You are going to have to show proof of insurance, pay the registration fees etc but at least you can move it on street without additional problems (read fines) from Traffic Court. Good luck!

I must be missing something unless Canadian made vehicles have a different warranty! What does it matter where it came from if warranty is the same?
The used car market is full of Canadian Rams bought at wholesale by dealers. Ram doesn’t honor the warranty on these vehicles (I don’t know why). When I was looking for a used one last year, nearly all the trucks were Canadian in the Washington, Oregon area.

I ended up buying a leftover new 2017 because of the warranty issue. Many of the Canadian trucks had corrosion on the underbody.

I feel for you, you are in a spot for sure, some good advise on here. Get a third party warranty or get out of the vehicle.

Third party warranty companies sell warranties anytime. Ads on TV..."If your vehicle has less than 150,000 miles..."

I think they mean after the problem... They always have something about pre-existing issues.

Has anybody from canada had their truck break down in the US and been not covered or vice versa. Is it just not covered if its been exported to canada and then re imported?
Agree, so if I drive my truck to Canada and the my truck has a USA warranty and it breaks down FCA is going to tow my truck back to the USA so a USA dealer can do the repair?

I have a feeling that this is covered the same way is if you are away from a local dealer. You would get reimbursed for the work after prior approval. Or, they just do the work with no issue, since it isn't an export.

Once you register a vehicle in another country, it is considered an exported vehicle, I'm sure this is different than being away on a trip.
