Hi all. New to the forum, just bought a 2017 Ram Rebel. Loving it so far I’m very happy with my choice, what a truck! So I just called FCA Canada with a couple questions about warranty. The first being if I do my own oil changes will that affect my warranty? The lady assured me after a brief hold that if I keep a record (receipts and odometer reading) of all my oil changes that I’ll be fine. My next question was if I installed an aftermarket muffler would that affect my warranty? She said that she didn’t need to check, it would absolutely 100% void my warranty. That’s a real bummer as I was really looking forward to getting the Flowmaster outlaw (direct swap not catback). Anyone have any experience with this, am I screwed for upgrading my muffler before my warranty runs out?

Read the Magnusson act warranty info ... They can only void the warranty if they can prove your mod caused the failure

“IF” you have a problem and have to take it back to the dealership, why can’t you just put the OEM muffler back on? Just my $.02.

I just looked it up. Should have mentioned I’m in Canada, does anyone know if there is an equivalent act here?

Huge PITA ... I’ve had Magnaflow cat-back since a year old, and never mentioned by dealer ... Mufflers just don’t cause too many failures ... Go for it

I have the flowmaster outlaw series on my truck . I've take my truck in for recalls and some warranty repairs and haven't had issues with the dealership.

Maybe you could call back and ask someone else? Or call the dealer and ask the service manager how they have dealt with it in the past. Hopefully some of the Canadian members will be able to help based on their experience. I know things are different up there eh.

Muffler/catback swap wont void warranty. as long as you dont touch the emissions equipment you will be fine. Let us know if we can offer you a quote on anything. We ship most items to Canada and offer just about everything

I wonder why they would tell me that. It seemed off when she said it. And sure please if you could pm me a quote for the Flowmaster Outlaw direct swap for a 2017 Rebel, but honestly I usually try to avoid ordering from the states because they always hammer me with the duties.

I have had an aftermarket muffler on mine for a while now. I am not sure if we have something similar to the Magnusson act here but I assume they would still have to show that the aftermarket part was cause for a failure. I fail to see how they could void a warranty for putting on a new muffler as it should have zero effect on how the truck runs.

Well for one a lot of people really don’t know what they are doing at their job. She might not have had a clue what you were even talking about. And Nick is right, muffler will not void anything other than if you took the truck to the dealer and told them you were having an issue with your muffler lol. It is a passive hunk of metal anyway. Put on the mufflers and enjoy the sound and don’t worry about it.
