Hey guys, I need some help here I am a little confused.
I bought some H1 projector headlights that have one single bulb for low beam and the cutoff shield for high beam. They were plug and play into my ram, great- they work awesome

I bought an H1 hid kit off ddm tuning to fit into these headlights. It just arrived and the connector I’m seeing has only two prongs. Rather than the ram harnesses 3 prongs. So I’m assuming I now need a harness adapter to go from my oem plug to this hid kit plug? Anyone recommend one?

Next question is how do I wire these ? Plugs everywhere haha. I’m a little confused. I also will probably need to tap the two wires for my projector solenoid. What do I tap them too? And what is this box that looks like a relay or maybe a capacitor? (Attaches to my headlight solenoid)

This is the hid kit I bought. Came with good recommendation from this site. It says it fits a ram?

I think you need a high beam splitter like this:

https://www.theretrofitsource.com/high-beam-splitters.html

The orange and white wire from the bulb, plug into the ignitor coming from the ballast. That will light the bulb.

The black and white wire with the plug ends goes to the projector shutter solenoid for high/low beam function. The high beam splitter would plug in between the OEM truck harness and the ballast and then to the wire going to the projector shutter solenoid.

I think this is what will work.

I'm trying to figure out all I need to get my projector to work in high/low beam function along with the LED projector in the high beam portion of my quad build.

I would be i terested in beam pattern pics against a flat wall and perhaps impressions of brightness compared to stock quads if you could pretty please.

I have been seriously considering finding some lights like this as I drive 80 miles of country winding roads, no streetlights, lots of deer, wet/icy often.

Thank you, I’m still trying to wrap my head around it. I think I need to draw up a diagram lol. Any idea what connector I need? This is a bit confusing for me

Does the DDM Tuning have the instruction sheet right there that you can post?

How’s this for a technical drawing LOL

So from what I’m getting. I need a Ram male 9006 to a female H1.
But as for the low hi splitter I’m not sure what one I need. a6d6e91d035cc0e6bf8cbdb08f970647.jpg

Wow! Making an assumption here (I know about making assumptions) that your ballasts are powered by the headlight harness from the truck. Might be a pain in the ass with the aftermarket projectors to get them working right.

Because your projectors are plug and play, they plug directly into the harness you could probably utilize part of the projector harness to get the high beam signal to activate the solenoid for the high beam shutter.

This is true. However I’m hoping to get rid of most that wiring as they are eBay lights and the wiring and connectors are all shot compared to the ddm tuning stuff! What a pain this has been lol

The light grey Y harness would be the splitter. The dark grey would be OEM harness from the truck is what I am thinking is how you'd have to run the wiring. The Y splitter would send the high beam. Signal to the solenoid

I'm sure I will be corrected if.i am wrong. But I think that is how yours is supposed to work....2ce73462f54fa49d0946d0b7b0f43226.jpg

Don't think I am being an idiot, it was a long day for me, but I read your RAM as RAW.....sorry....LOL.

Yes, that's it.

The bulb for your housing is H1, but the harness from your truck, which plugs to your housing is 9005. Somehow somewhere in your housing it makes the conversion from 9005 to H1 to support the H1 bulbs.

In short, you’ll never get the H1 ballast to connect to the 9005 factory harness. You’ll have better luck ordering a 9005 kit then figure out where your housing converts to the H1 bulb, then make the final connection.

I disagree with your second paragraph. No disrespect but wouldn’t my above posted link work? I don’t think I need to order a new 9005 kit?

Your aftermarket housing makes the conversion. Therefore you’ll need the correct ballast to connect to your factory harness.

Correct however when installing an hid kit I will be removing all the existing wiring from the housings with the new hid bulb? Are we on the same page?

What’s the stock ram light harness called? I’m having trouble finding that out. Like what’s the 3 prong plug called?

H8/H9/H11 (M) to 9006 (F) adapter might be what you need. Your truck is originally a quad headlight truck correct?

To the best of my knowledge 9005 is standard for all 4th gen’s. Google your year make and model to verify, then that will be the ballast you need to order. That should plug and play from the harness to the housing.

Your aftermarket housing makes the conversion from 9005 to H1. That’s where you will have to figure out how to wire an H1 HID bulb to your housing were the conversion is made, and still maintain high beam capability. So, my original point being, making the connection from your harness to your housing with the correct ballast is priority number one. Once that’s resolved, you need to figure out how to wire the bulb.

Unfortunately marrying three aftermarket parts is not easy.
