Thanks.

I do like this one.

I'm probably gonna end up ordering the magnum myself when I pull the trigger on a weather guard. Having the Bakflip has been nice, but I need some real tool storage and I'm tired of **** clanking around all over my bed or in my backseats. I had a bakbox, but like the raptor guys deal with the damn thing falls down if you hit enough washboard.

Does bars stop leak work? Well, this guy gets a uoa and under anti freeze he gets a possible from the lab, runs bars leak tablets, and cleans up his uoa. One other benefit to running uoa's? Possibly stopping something. His last uoa was m1 0w40, sheared a point, not bad but then again it is a toyota, we usually see more shear.

Finally got my oil analysis back. fe60cdde3a941e791f7461965f2f827a.jpg

Yup,

For 5,000 mile OCI on a 15,000 mile truck the iron is a bit heavy. Copper is as to be expected and takes a long time to go down.

Id stay at that OCI until it starts go down.

Pretty heavy wear, but it is a young engine, I'd expect that to keep coming down. That is a hemi for ya.

Why is that a bit heavy? I don’t know how long an engine takes to get good and broke in but I figured that would be about normal. I’m not hard on the truck at all. I don’t pull nothin’ and don’t load it heavy.

But I’m curious: they said I probably could have gone even longer interval but U&A, you’re saying I need to go down to a 5,000 mile interval? That change was just under 6,000. Which I’m not totally opposed to since I’m probly not going to run the heavier oil at this point.

You can see here what to expect, numbers keep coming down likely to you get to 70k miles.

Well I would hope that wear would start to go down on up there in miles but I dunno, what’s normal wear content for a one year old motor?

It is normal hemi wear, unfortunately hemi's are high wear engines. do yourself a favor and google random uoa's.

I suggested keeping your OCI the same. But im not an expert. Im just telling you what I would do.

The wear metals are not awful by any means. Just a tad high. Nothing to worry about.

Here is mine sir just for some more comparison for you. The latest UOA is 10w40 Redline. Blackstone flagged the viscosity but actually the viscosity that they measure my sample at is IDENTICAL to brand new redline 10W40 viscosity.....Its just a bit thicker than most 10W40’s to begin with is all.

The previous UOA was a sample from a while back when I ran Amsoil 0W40 and got bad cold start tic in short order causing me to dump it early.

I googled uoa f150 and this was the first one that came up, compare that to what we see with hemi. Brand new truck and eco boost too boot.

This was the second.

funny that second uoa. Dude buys a brand new f150 ecoboost and goes 10,000 miles without changing his oil, lol.

Kinda interesting to see F150 owners not using PP. In that Ecoboost I'd want that really light clean GTL base on account of the ****** PCV design that cokes the valves. When that **** eventually breaks off it's been known to dust turbos.

Not that I have a dog in this fight any longer but I do & would like to add: I do own 2 Eco-Boost engines.

1. 2017 2.0L Single Scroll Turbo
2. 2019 2.7L Twin Turbo

I have spent literally months on BITOG even though it is not a Ideal place to get correct / positive information-feedback. (Not necessarily posting & asking questions but reading)!

I have finally chose to use Castrol Edge in Both! I've never been a HUGE Castrol fan boy - but the UOAs posted really show incredibly low wear numbers and very good formulations that handle a decent amount of fuel dilution with not a lot of thinning. (Within the Ford Eco-Boost engines).

The 2.0L ---> Magnatec 5W-30 w/ 6K mile OCI -- RP filter & 16oz Schaeffers #132
The 2.7L ---> Castrol Euro Edge 0w-30 w/ 6K mile OCI -- MC filter
(Castrol Edge 0w-30 A3/B4 which lists PAO as 25%-50%)

I might possibly switch to the Magnatec 5W-30 for the 2.7L as well.
Due to it's Low Calcium/High Magnesium - 197ppm of Boron & 60ppm Moly and 30ppm of Castrols own brand of Titanium. I feel this is a great fit for a Eco-Boost!

For those that own a Eco-Boost along side your Hemi - Ya cant go wrong with the Castrol Magnatec brand. My only advice is don't go beyond 8K mile OCI and for goodness sakes use a top name brand filter.

I'm not recommending the Castrol brand: I'm only saying the information I gathered and witnessed with my own eyes shows it to be a top tier synthetic oil for any of the Ford Eco-Boost engines along with a smart OCI.

EDIT: Notice the ZDDP is down: I have read where the higher levels (PPM) of ZDDP is reportedly a possible cause of premature timing chain wear! Within many of these newer smaller displacement motors.
I honestly believe it is due to Pi$$ Poor Design but it is what it is. Thus the reason for the much extra Boron & Titanium according to Castrol. 60ppm of Moly is not much but every bit helps.

(Everyone has their own Opinion) - All the positive UOAs coming back tells a bit of the story on the Magnatec Brand when applied with a logical & practical OCI!
