Hello,

Just wanted to shared this with you guys. Before I even get into the story, let me just summarize what I'm about to say:

The Carven catback isn't meant for the Etorque motor and might not fit without modification according to Carven.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I ordered the Carven kit for my new Rebel from Moes and it didnt fit correctly. I haven't talked to Moes about this, but I’m goin to tag them here. @Hemi450hp

I ended up having to go to a muffler shop, pay 175 dollars to have them put it on, it took them 3 hours and they had to bend and weld both tailpipe sides. And its still not even exactly right, I have to go back to fix the driver side again.

Now, nowhere along the way did it say anything about NOT fitting the etoqure motors. Maybe its just me, but if it says "Fits 5.7 Hemi V8" then I just assume it fits all of them. If it doesn't specifically state yes or no for etorque, why would you think it would NOT fit just because of a different charging system.

So I guess now anytime you buy something for one of these, you have to double check.

Below is the email exchange between me and Carven. IMO, they were borderline rude about it and didn't handle it correctly. They could have at least acknowledged the confusion and used the word "sorry" but instead they just talked to me like I'm some moron. Take a look for yourself....

You don’t happen to have the Etorque model do you?

Thats why there may be a fitment issue, on the website its a 5.7 V8 hemi option.

Well you guys might want to specify something about that on the website then if that’s the case. I’ve seen multiple other etorque trucks online with this kit and no one has mentioned this fitment issue.

I was wondering if it had anything to do with the rebel vs other trims? Like the bumper could be a bit different, and the suspension could be slightly different as well (right around that track bar in the back since it comes with the OEM 1” lift or what not)

There is a dude on YouTube with a rebel that has this kit, and his fit fine. But unsure if he has etorque.

Sir, We just included a screen shot from our website that says the specifications. Also, the only selection we have for picking the product off of our website is the option for a 5.7 Hemi. The product does not fit the eco torque. included is another example.

Alright thanks. I will be sharing this on the forums to let people know about my experience.

I would recommend adding a note that says “etorque model may require modification” or “does not for etorque” because it’s not very intuitive as it is now since it’s basically the same motor.

No response after that, but I mean thats pretty crappy service IMO. 700 dollar catback, doesn't fit because of lack of product description and then terrible customer service. I mean the "eco torque" as he called it IS INDEED a 5.7 Hemi V8 AMIRITE?

Seems like a ****** attitude, I'm with you. At the very least a sorry for your troubles should be offered, guess even that is too difficult for people to say anymore.

Well I dang sure wouldn't blame Matt, he's a seller, and has a great reputation. I'm sure if they aren't stating on their site, he's unaware as well.
Sorry to hear of the issues.

Again just to clarify..

IM NOT UPSET WITH MOES IN ANY WAY.

I was just tagging him so he can see this and they can be aware. The reason I haven’t called them yet is because I don’t feel they are responsible at all. But since carven is taking the ****** way out on this, I thought everyone (including Moes) should see this.

Carven should make it right, not Moes.

Well I kinda see it like this. You ordered a exhaust for a regular 5.7 Hemi. While you have a different version of the 5.7Hemi called the ETorq. That would probably be my clue to why it didn’t fit right. I mean I agree a sorry for your inconvenience could have been tossed in from them. But this was kind of on you.

I don’t see it as a different engine, and I don’t really understand that mindset. It’s not a different engine is the thing. Its not the 3.5 EB motor vs the 3.5 N/A v6. Different altogether.

Is the same motor. They are both literally 5.7 hemi v8s. One has an alternator. One has a generator mounted in the literal same place as said alternator.

It doesn’t say “regular hemi”. It says fits 5.7 hemi v8. Which I have. I don’t have a v6 or ecodiesel. I have a 5.7 hemi v8.

And their product description should say does not fit etorque models if that’s the case. But it seems to fit fine, there’s a handful of others using it without issue on the other forum.

So do they make this kit for the etorque at all? Either way if they know enough to answer you saying it wasn't for an etorque truck, they clearly know there is apparently a difference in the systems and I agree, for their own sake and a lot of other people's, they should very clearly say NOT FOR ETORQUE. I've seen that with plenty of other parts online, to avoid such trouble. Unless they have this catback on their website that you can order for a 5.7 hemi etorque also? Otherwise, I agree they should save themselves a lot of trouble and just make it known before ordering.

just my $.02
being that this is a cat back system and not a full exhaust system I wonder if you possibly the wrong exhaust was in the box? (Gen4 vs Gen5) Sounds like the problem is with the tail pipe alignment.
I could see differences with the eTorque if there was headers involved but I don't see Ram having a completely different exhaust hanger set up just for the eTorque vs non-eTorque

So I called moes and told them about the scenario. They were great as always, he thinks there is a miscommunication about the term “etorque”. He’s going to follow up with them about it and maybe post a reply here.

He did solidify again that there is no difference in the two engines, in terms of exhaust anyways.

Should be interesting to see what they say about that, the scenario crash mentioned definitely sounds possible here.

honest question not being a **** (take that preface lol), when it showed up and didnt fit why didnt you send it back or check before paying a bunch to get it modified and shoehorned in?

Well, I set aside time to put it on. I got started on it, had problems getting the stock exhaust hangers off in some areas and was looking at the kit and how it went together and just decided to go to the local shop and pay someone because it was taking me too long.

I get there, they spend 1.5 hours messing with it so now I’m like 4-5 hours in on this whole thing. They said it didn’t fit right, showed me the problems, and I said just do what it takes to make it fit. I don’t think it’s shoe horned in, it just needed to be tweaked a little.

Not to be a **** either, but my time is worth more than the 175 dollars to have it on. I’m not taking more time off work to mess with this again, I wanted it done that day and out of the way. Not to mention I had already been there for over an hour and I’m still going to have to pay these guys something and what now they are going to put the stock exhaust back on? So I’m going to pay how much for that? Just didn’t make sense.

Here’s the thing, I posted this because of the lack of customer service I received and the fact that they told me the etorque engine is different. Not so much about getting the money back for the install.

This is about 1) standing behind your product 2) having polite customer service 3) advertising your product correctly 4) potentially knowing the difference between etorque and ecodiesel if that’s actually part of the confusion

Ah fair enough didn't realize you'd gotten that far into it before the shop told it just didn't fit.

If I remember correctly, on the Gen4 trucks the difference between Hemi and EcoDiesel exhaust systems was the length of the muffler. The EcoD muffler was shorter due to the DPF/SCR set up. After that everything was the same when comparing bed lengths and whether it was duals or single side out. I'm guessing when EcoD is released for the Gen5 body it will be the same scenario.

Update for anyone who cares lol

I’ve talked to moes and carven. We are working on a solution to see if we can figure out what went wrong.
